A person of interest is in custody following a report of shots fired in Hampton on Thursday night. According to a press release, no one was injured in the incident. Hampton Police responded to sounds of shots fired in the area of Ocean Boulevard and G St. at about 7:35 p.m. Officers in the area were able to quickly form a perimeter and identify a suspect, police said, adding they located and secured a firearm, and took a person of interest matching the description of the suspect into custody Police said there is no further threat to public safety at this time. HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died following a fatal pedestrian crash in Hampton on Sunday night, according to police. Hampton Public Safety Communications received a call for a pedestrian accident in the 1000 block of West Mercury Boulevard at approximately 10:50 p.m. Hampton Police and Hampton Fire and Rescue crews arrived and discovered a man lying in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of West Mercury Boulevard at the intersection of North Armistead Avenue when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after striking the victim. There is a designated crosswalk at the location the man attempted to cross. The crash is under investigation. Hampton police seek help in identifying suspect in Greenbriar Avenue shooting

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton Police Division is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect in connection with a shooting that injured one man on Friday afternoon. Hampton Public Safety Communications received a call Friday in reference to a walk-in gunshot victim at the Sentara CarePlex at approximately 3:40 p.m. When officers arrived, they made contact with a man suffering from a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening. The preliminary investigation determined the victim was walking in the 600 block of Greenbriar Avenue when he was approached by the suspect. Following a verbal altercation, the suspect discharged a firearm, striking the victim.
