Williston firefighters recognized for saving baby with medical care
WILLISTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – The Williston Fire Department announced Tuesday that five of their own had been recognized for a quick response that may have saved a 15-month-old child's life.
The child was found unresponsive in a local hotel April 26 following a seizure. She was not breathing well and low on oxygen, but the team of five was able to stabilize her and get her to the University of Vermont Medical Center for further care.
The firefighters received a commendation from Dr. Peter Antevy, MD, who founded the Handtevy System used by the team to respond to the child's medical emergency. Handtevy describes itself as a 'pediatric healthcare technology company', which makes software that emergency medical providers can use to facilitate decisions under time pressure.

Antevy told the firefighters that their quick decision making and professionalism was responsible for the happy outcome. 'Each of you performed with purpose and clarity,' he said.
