Egypt, Japan sign letter of intent to enhance mathematics curriculum development
Egypt and Japan signed a letter of intent between the Egyptian Ministry of Education and the Japanese educational development organization, Sprix, on April 26, 2025- press photo CAIRO – 27 April 2025: Egypt and Japan signed, on Saturday, a letter of intent between the Egyptian Ministry of Education and the Japanese educational development organization, Sprix. The signing of the letter was witnessed by Minister of Education and Technical Education and Secretary General of the Egyptian-Japanese Partnership for Education Hani Helal and Ambassador of Japan to Egypt Fumio Iwai. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in developing mathematics curricula, marking a concrete outcome of Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif's recent visit to Japan, which further deepened educational collaboration between the two countries. The letter of intent was signed by Akram Hassan, assistant minister for Curriculum Development, on behalf of the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and by Shinya Sayo, director of the International Department at Sprix, representing the Japanese side. Japan is globally recognized as a leader in mathematics education, and this marks the first collaboration between Egypt and Japan in the field of curriculum development. The partnership seeks to modernize Egypt's mathematics curricula by drawing on Japan's experience, which is known for its emphasis on strong scientific foundations and the development of students' intellectual and analytical skills. During the signing ceremony, Minister Helal welcomed the Japanese ambassador and the delegation from Sprix, underlining the strategic importance of this collaboration. He noted that the Japanese educational model—centered on mastering foundational skills and progressing steadily toward advanced competencies—will help Egyptian students enhance their mathematical abilities. Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif also expressed his ambition to build on existing cooperation frameworks with Japan, with the goal of expanding collaboration in various aspects of the Egyptian education system. In his remarks, Ambassador Iwai emphasized the broad scope of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Japan across multiple development sectors. He expressed his satisfaction with this new educational initiative and stated it was an honor to witness the integration of Japanese expertise into Egypt's education reform efforts. On February 16 , 2025, Abdel Latif travelled to Tokyo for an official visit. The purpose of the visit was to further strengthen cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise in educational projects of mutual interest.

Separating myth from fact in the alleged discovery beneath the Pyramids
A friend shared a video with me of a purported groundbreaking new discovery about the pyramids, and that's where this whole thing began. I recently learned that social media and news sites had been flooded with sensational reports claiming the discovery of huge columns, vertical wells, and giant chambers beneath the Pyramid of Khafre – hailed as potentially changing humanity's understanding of the pyramid's and putting Egypt back at the forefront of the global scientific scene. These claims were attributed to foreign studies using radar imaging techniques, which claimed to have discovered complex engineering structures at enormous depths beneath the pyramid. I was skeptical, even despite the video and news being well-presented. I immediately asked my dear friend Dr. Zahi Hawass, who responded with his characteristic decisiveness, 'This is nonsense, it has no basis.' I also asked my other dear friend Dr. Hani Helal, a scientist recently involved in important projects concerning the Giza pyramids, who swiftly replied, 'This is science fiction, no measurements, no scientific basis. It's just hype and a trend.' I even asked my son Marwan, who lives in London and whom I consider my personal 'search engine' for his accuracy, quality, and ability to delve into the infinite sea of information. He returned to me in minutes with proof that this is all unscientific and has not been published by any reputable source. Hawass categorically denied these claims, emphasizing that they are not based on any scientific evidence, and slammed them as 'rumors issued by specialists who know nothing about Egyptian civilization.' He confirmed that the base of the Pyramid of Khafre was entirely carved from rock, with an estimated height of about eight meters, and that there are no columns, chambers, or engineering structures of any kind beneath it. He also asserted that all geological and archaeological studies conducted in the pyramid area do not indicate the presence of any voids or mysterious structures beneath it. These reports – which relied on sources such as the Daily Mail and Reese Report – spoke of the use of ground-penetrating radar to reveal an underground network extending for two kilometers, containing cylindrical wells and giant chambers, said to generate energy or were used as a mechanical energy center in ancient times. Some even went so far as to link these 'discoveries' to theories that see the pyramids as energy-generating tools or complex cosmic landmarks. These theories lack scientific credibility and are often promoted by sensationalist media outlets or by conspiracy theorists. Additionally, the circulated images supporting these claims have been proven to be generated by artificial intelligence and are not based on real field evidence. The pyramids remain a testament to the genius of the ancient Egyptian people and are an architectural achievement that transcends time. Egypt proves time and again that its civilization does not need 'exaggeration' or 'science fiction' to amaze the world – it amazes with truth alone.
