Derelict Cambridgeshire RAF guardroom to become community centre
Derelict RAF guardroom to become community centre 6 minutes ago Share Save Hannah Brown Local Democracy Reporting Service Share Save AdrianSPye/Geograph The guardroom still has the RAF Upwood name above the entrance A derelict guardroom on a disused RAF base is to be transformed into a community centre for a growing village. The building has not been used since the armed services left RAF Upwood in Cambridgeshire. The parish council said the centre would "become the heart" of the village of Bury. The project has now been approved by Huntingdonshire District Council. RAF Upwood opened towards the end of World War One, and initially became the home of No. 191 (Night) Training Squadron. The station was closed after the war but reopened in the late 1930s. During World War Two, the RAF's No. 17 Operational Training Unit was based there and it was attacked twice by the Luftwaffe. Peter Neal/Geograph A few of the original buildings remain at RAF Upwood By the end of the 1970s there was very little activity at the site, but it was handed over to the United States Air Force in 1981 and became a satellite station of RAF Alconbury. The site was mostly vacant by 1994. Peter Neal/Geograph The site has been largely disused since 1994 The plans for the guardroom drawn up by Bury Parish Council will turn it into a community meeting room and a studio with a bar. There will also be a retail unit which could be used as a hairdressers or a health suite and new offices for the council. Civic London/Bury Parish Council Bury Parish Council has produced a drawing showing what the community centre may look like The authority said the new venue would "become the heart" of the growing village, offering people a place for meetings, cultural functions and public services. The Local Democracy Reporting Service said the work would be partly funded by a grant from the district council. The district council agreed to give permission for the work, after planning officers said the project would bring the derelict building back into use, and would not create any "significant detrimental impact" on the surrounding area. Plans have previously been approved to build up to 160 new homes at the RAF Upwood site and a proposal for a care home was given approval in 2023. ‘Bachelorette' alum Hannah Brown reveals ‘shock' health condition
Hannah Brown is getting candid on her health journey. The reality star, 30, revealed on Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with a double uterus. During a conversation on Maria Menounos' 'Heal Squad' podcast, Brown detailed her condition, which is 'present at birth in some women,' per the Mayo Clinic. 'I'm not at the place where I'm ready to have children and I didn't want to have another thing to add stress but I have a double uterus and I've never been told that until this,' Brown confessed to Menounos, 46. 'I haven't done the exploratory surgery to kind of figure out exactly what is going on but there is some risk maybe when I'm ready to have children.' 7 Hannah Brown on Maria Menunous's podcast. 7 Hannah Brown and Maria Menunous discuss her health diagnosis on the 'Heal Squad' podcast. @healsquad/Instagram Advertisement 'It looks like they're attached in some way,' she added. Brown admitted that she has so much 'going on' at the moment that it isn't the right time to dive deeper into her diagnosis. 'I don't need to be stressing about that right now,' the reality star went on, noting that her doctor told her that by 30 she needs to start having some things planned out like freezing her eggs. 7 Hannah Brown on 'The Bachelorette.' We will get there when we get there. But to have the knowledge of like this is something you're going to want to take care of when you're ready for that time and not be surprised by it is really helpful. It took multiple doctors to get to that.' When Menounos asked Brown if having kids was the dream, she replied, 'I go back and forth. I think I would love to have a child. I don't want to miss out on that experience but I haven't been quite ready yet. Which makes sense, I want to get married first.' 7 Hannah Brown. @hannahbrown/Instagram 'I've never been somebody just waiting, waiting, waiting for that to happen,' Brown said, 'but I do think I am going to want to have that experience when it's time.' Woolard, echoed the former pageant winner's sentiments, telling the outlet, 'If I had to choose one quality I love about her, it would be her authenticity. She lives and acts from the truest part of herself despite outside influence. But also that smile and how she lights up a room.'

Bachelor vet Hannah Brown reveals 'shocking' double uterus diagnosis
Former Bachelorette Hannah Brown revealed that she was diagnosed with a rare uterine abnormality that affects only 0.3 percent of the female population. While appearing on Maria Menounos' podcast, Heal Squad, the reality star opened up about finding out that she has a double uterus at age 30. 'It was definitely a shock,' the God Bless This Mess said of her health condition, before detailing how it may affect her fertility down the line. While she has not undergone the exploratory surgery to learn more about her double uterus, Brown explained 'it looks like they're attached in some way.' 'It's just like a split,' Brown, who is set to wed fiancé Adam Woolard, told Menuonos, said. While she hasn't 'quite gotten to' the stage of wanting to have a child, just yet, the TV personality noted her doctor advised she freezes her eggs soon. Brown said after she gets married this year, she 'will get right on that.' Women, who have a double uterus (uterus didelphys), do have an increased risk of pregnancy complications, such as miscarriage and preterm birth. The condition can also potentially affect fertility as some women with it may experience difficulties conceiving. Others, however, many others have no issues getting pregnant and can carry to term, according to Mayo Clinic. Despite the possibility of some complications, Brown pointed out: 'There have been cases of people having double uteruses and having babies and being perfectly fine.' Although the news took her by surprise, she is grateful for the knowledge as she figures out her future plans. 'I definitely think I would love to have a child, and I don't want to miss out on that experience,' she said. 'But I haven't been quite ready yet, which I think makes sense. I want to get married first. I want to be able to do that.' 'I've never been to just like, just waiting, waiting, waiting for that to happen,' she continued. 'But I do think I'll I'm going to want to have that experience, when it's time.' Back in 2021, Brown revealed in her memoir that she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at age 11 and underwent a surgery which removed the tumor. When she was in fifth grade, she underwent an MRI in order to find out what had been causing her frequent stomach aches. However, the procedure revealed she had a 'tumor the size of an egg' on her pancreas. 'They sent me for a biopsy, and a day or so later, my dad got a call with the results — not from our regular doctor, but from an oncologist. The tumor was malignant. Cancer. Pancreatic cancer — one of the deadliest forms of cancer there is,' she said. However, Brown was given some peace of mind after the oncologist informed her the cancer had not spread. 'On the day of my surgery, I wasn't scared about what was going to happen to me. At all,' Hannah wrote. 'Even though my mother was in tears and my dad looked as worried as I'd ever seen him in my life as the nurses came to wheel me into the operating room, I looked up at my mom from my hospital bed and said, "Mama, I'm going to be okay."' The tumor was entirely removed during the procedure and she did not have to go through radiation and chemotherapy. Brown also previously revealed that she suffers from 'horrible and haunting' sleep paralysis, narcolepsy, inflammation, anxiety and PCOS. In her book, she speculated that her battle with narcolepsy was 'a direct symptom of the trauma of' learning her aunt LeeLee and her two young cousins, Robin and Trent, were murdered. Additionally, she has been open about suffering from asthma since she was five. In December 2022, she had an asthma attack on a flight that was so severe her plane had to be 'diverted' and she was met with a stretcher. 'I was shaking uncontrollably and trying to grab my inhaler — but I couldn't take in the air,' she told People. 'It was embarrassing.' Brown told the outlet that she feels like she 'spent most' of her 'childhood in a doctor's office, doing my homework and playing I Spy.' 'I was a pretty sick kid, catching everything going around school,' she explained.

‘I'm Your Girl.' Hannah Brown's Bachelor In Paradise Role Has Been Revealed, And I'm Officially Excited For Season 10
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. When Bachelor in Paradise returns to the 2025 TV schedule for its 10th season, fans will notice quite a few big changes. For one, production has packed Salley Carson's suitcase and moved out of Sayulita, Mexico, and when the Bachelor Nation singles reach their new home in Costa Rica, they'll be greeted by a familiar face. Hannah Brown has signed on in a surprising new role that has me really excited for the spinoff. Jesse Palmer is still expected to appear as the Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 host, with Wells Adams presumably taking his usual spot behind the bar. This time, though, they'll be joined by Hannah Brown, who will reportedly be stationed in the all-new Champagne Lounge. The former Bachelorette opened up about what exactly she'll be doing (other than pouring the bubbly), telling US Weekly: I think of myself as Paradise Relations. I am there to make sure that whatever people need, whatever the experience that they're supposed to have, I'm going to be there. People need help setting up a magical moment with the person that they're falling in love with? I'm your girl. If you need some advice on how to express your interest in someone, come to me. Hannah Brown is one of the most famous Bachelor alums of all time, and I'm thrilled that we're going to get more of her on our screens. The fact that this is happening in a new Champagne Lounge speaks to just one of what I expect to be several big changes to the format, with Scott Teti joining as the new showrunner. It was confirmed at Grant Ellis' Bachelor finale that Golden contestants will be joining the new Bachelor in Paradise season, so I'm wondering if maybe Hannah Brown's lounge is a quieter, shadier (maybe even — dare I say it — air-conditioned?!) spot for the more senior members of the cast. So many details have yet to be revealed, but I'll be happy to have Hannah Brown in whatever capacity. It sounds like she's equally excited to return to Bachelor in Paradise, where she's made cameo appearances and hosted dates in past seasons. She continued: It's so awesome to be back, but just in a new role. I'm really honored and super excited to, hopefully, be a really helpful addition that these contestants can really lean on, and feel safe to be heard and also be able to feel like, 'OK, she's going to tell me like it is.' It's exactly that honesty mixed with compassion that has Jesse Palmer thinking Hannah Brown's going to fit in so well on Season 10. He said in his own US Weekly interview: She's never afraid to tell it how it is, there's never a boring day around Hannah Brown. Beyond Wells, who is already amazing, now you have another perspective, another personality. The host also hyped the new location, saying Costa Rica brings a whole new feel to Bachelor in Paradise Season 10. I think Costa Rica as a backdrop is exciting. Not only do you have the beach, now you have the jungle. It's sexy, it's romantic, it's mysterious, it's dangerous. … It's going to be an incredible party. Bachelor in Paradise hit new lows in Season 9 with major plots including a 'poop baby' (who thought constipated contestants would make for good TV?) and all of the couples breaking up pretty much as soon as they were contractually allowed to. Now with a fresh crew behind the scenes, the new locale, Golden contestants to mix it up and the great Hannah Brown coming on board, I could not be more excited to see what Season 10 brings. No premiere date has been announced yet, but Jesse Palmer said to expect it to air this summer on ABC and streaming the next day with a Hulu subscription.
