Fail to remain fatal collision involving pedestrian under investigation
Hanover police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian where the driver failed to remain at the scene.
The incident happened around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday on 7th Avenue at the entrance to the Hanover Park.
According to police, a 66-year-old female was struck as she crossed the street by a vehicle heading north. The vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed, continued northbound on Bruce County Road 10, turning westbound on Concession 4 in the former Brant Township, police say.
The victim, which police have identified as Sheila Lamont of Hanover, was transported to the Hanover and District Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police have determined the suspect vehicle is a 2007 red convertible Chrysler - PT Cruiser, with Ontario licence plates CKPR 013 displayed.
The PT Cruiser will have damage to the front end and the windshield.
Anyone with information on the driver, or the PT Cruiser is asked to contact the police immediately by calling 911.
