CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A CMS teacher accused of sending inappropriate messages allegedly used a translation app to talk to Spanish-speaking students, according to court documents. PREVIOUS: Harding University HS teacher accused of sending inappropriate messages to a student: CMPD Documents revealed that a student used a language translator on her phone or a teacher's phone because she doesn't understand much English. Lewis, her math teacher at the time, allegedly asked her sometime this school year if she was a virgin. He also reportedly asked her if she needed a ride home after a tutoring session, but she declined because it made her feel uncomfortable. The student reported that Lewis got in her personal space multiple times and would touch or rub her back and shoulder area. The documents revealed that Lewis also poked her in the stomach one time, and the student had to tell him not to touch her. The student recently used the translator app to ask about her grades, and he responded in the app, saying, 'And you don't want to be my girlfriend so we can make hot video calls.' Lewis allegedly asked her about wanting a boyfriend and told her to think about her grades when she declined wanting a boyfriend. Queen City News is tracking CRIME in your area 🚨 >> Detectives spoke to Lewis, and he denied asking her to make hot video calls. Authorities looked at his phone and found a comment asking, 'Are you lonely?' to which he said that it was in a conversation with a different student about her recent breakup. That student told detectives he was insistent on asking whether or not she should get another boyfriend, which made her feel uncomfortable. Lewis later admitted that the messages and phrases on his phone were inappropriate. Arrest records show Lewis posted a $25,000 secured bond on Saturday morning. He's been employed with CMS since August 2023. He has a probable cause hearing scheduled for April 22. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
