Nebraska football transfer portal tracker for spring 2025
Nebraska football transfer portal tracker for spring 2025 Nebraska football is entering a busy time of year, as spring practices are underway. The spring transfer portal window is also open. Several names have already departed the program as 105-man roster limits take effect. The Huskers have a logjam at some positions, and that's certainly the case at wide receiver. Some players have transferred from the program in search of better playing opportunities elsewhere. Nebraska will hold a scrimmage at the end of spring practice after initially rejecting the idea. Now, the Huskers will have a spring game to give players who may not make the roster one last chance to play in Memorial Stadium or to get on tape for other opportunities. Rhule made the surprising decision on Wednesday night. I called Troy (Dannen) last night (Wednesday). I'm going to go live and do some Red and White stuff. We have a bunch of guys that this could be their last time playing in that stadium. We have a bunch of guys that are fighting to make the 105. We have a bunch of guys, that, if they can't play here, they need some tape to go somewhere else. The Husker Games will take place on Saturday, April 26, allowing fans to preview Nebraska football, volleyball and soccer teams for the 2025 season. On the football field, the Huskers will feature 7-on-7 games and skills competitions similar to the NFL's Pro Bowl games. Greats from Nebraska's past will also participate in various skills competitions. There will also be a women's flag football game between Midland University and the UNL all-star intramural team. You can follow along with all the movements in our transfer portal tracker below. Hardley Gilmore IV - Wide Receiver (Kentucky Wildcats) Former Kentucky wide receiver Hardley Gilmore IV signed back with the Kentucky Wildcats earlier this week. He entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, after transferring to Nebraska on January 1. Gilmore spent four months with the program. The Huskers dismissed the wideout in April for unknown reasons. Alex Bullock - Wide Receiver (South Dakota State) Wide receiver Alex Bullock announced he was entering the transfer portal on Wednesday and signed with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Thursday. He played for three seasons in Lincoln, recording 16 receptions for 233 yards and a touchdown. He only had one catch for 12 yards last year, but had a big year in 2023. He had 15 catches for 221 yards and a touchdown, averaging 14.7 yards per reception. He was a building block for Matt Rhule's first season at Nebraska. Bullock will now have a chance to continue his football career and finish in style. His route-running ability, as well as his sure hands, make him an intriguing receiver. Find Cornhuskers Wire's initial coverage here. Jack McCallister - Punter (Uncommitted) After transferring to Nebraska in December, punter Jack McCallister entered the portal. This past season, the former Washington punter averaged 44.0 yards per punt. He was expected to replace Brian Buschini, who had been Nebraska's punter for the past three seasons. Buschini averaged 44.7 yards per punt in 2024. McCallister's sudden departure is due to a change in punting philosophy under new Special Teams Coordinator Mike Ekeler. Ekeler plans to use a rugby-style punter for the Cornhuskers, while McCallister is a traditional punter. Find Cornhuskers Wire's initial coverage here.

Former Nebraska wide receiver enters transfer portal after being dismissed from team
Former Nebraska wide receiver enters transfer portal after being dismissed from team A former Nebraska wide receiver has entered the transfer portal. Hardley Gilmore IV officially entered the portal after being dismissed from the Cornhusker football team earlier this month. Gilmore had just transferred to Nebraska in January. He spent his freshman season with the Kentucky Wildcats, having six catches for 153 yards and a touchdown last year. He hoped to reunite with wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts, who also joined Nebraska from Kentucky. Head coach Matt Rhule was short and to the point when announcing his dismissal. "Nothing outside of the program. Nothing criminal or anything like that. Just won't be with us anymore." He was the second Kentucky wide receiver commitment this offseason, with Dane Key announcing his commitment to the program on Christmas Eve. Gilmore was a four-star receiver and was the 149th overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
