Rath Yatra celebrated in England's Slough

1 2 Bhubaneswar: Rath Yatra was celebrated with devotion and spiritual fervour at Upton Court Park, Slough, near London on Saturday. Organised by Shree Jagannatha Society UK (SJSUK), the event attracted over 1,000 devotees, who pulled the chariot, sang 'bhajans' and participated in 'kirtans'. 'Chhera Pahanra' was performed by deputy high commissioner to the UK, Sujit Ghosh, and acting chairperson and trustee of Shree Ram Mandir, Southall, Arun Thakur. This year's celebration saw the deities travel from Shree Ram Mandir to Upton Court Park en route to Slough Hindu Mandir, which serves as the Gundicha Temple and where they will reside for eight days, cementing community, cultural and spiritual ties between Greater London and surrounding home counties. "Rath Yatra is not just a celebration, but a movement of faith and unity," said Sahadev Swain, chairperson of SJSUK. At Upton Court Park, the deities were carried in the ceremonial 'Pahandi' riutal to the chariot. The colourful chariot was hand-constructed, painted and decorated by Jagannath devotees, who worked on it for several days. The chariot was pulled by devotees through the park accompanied by 'Jai Jagannath' and 'Hari Bol' chants, 'bhajans' and 'kirtans'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo The sound of cymbals and conch created a divine ambience. Kotia Rath Yatra sees political unity, development buzz as leaders join forces

KORAPUT/JEYPORE: Amid the rhythmic beats of drums, resonating conch shells, and vibrant chants of Hari Bol, Rath Yatra was celebrated at Adim Srikhetra in Koraput's Kotia panchayat headquarters on Friday. Thousands of devotees, including members of tribal communities from across Koraput and adjoining regions, gathered to pull the beautifully decorated wooden chariot of the holy Trinity. Deputy chief minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Revenue minister Suresh Pujari, School and Mass Education minister Nityananda Gond, Steel and Mines and Transport minister Bibhuti Jena, and Fisheries & Animal Husbandry minister Gokulananda Mallick joined villagers in pulling the chariot. The festival witnessed a rare moment of political unity, with Koraput MP Saptagiri Shankar Ulaka, who is from the Congress, and other opposition leaders also pulling the chariot. Other leaders including Balabhadra Majhi, Jeypore MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati, CLP Leader Ramachandra Kadam, and former MP Jayaram Pangi also joined the celebration. The Kotia Jagannath Temple, established 22 years ago with the inspiration of Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, has grown into a potent symbol of Odisha's cultural sovereignty in the disputed Kotia region. This year's celebration, however, stood out as historic.
