Authorities seek public's help in Harrison County shooting investigation
HARRISON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) — Authorities are seeking information regarding a Thursday morning shooting in Harrison County. Abbott seeks stricter bail laws after East Texas murder suspect escapes while under house arrest According to a release from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, the shooting occurred at the intersection of FM 9 and FM 1999 around 10:30 a.m. A witness described the vehicle as a black or blue 2013-2018 Kia. The person officials are searching for is described as being a Black man, 5 feet 6 inches tall to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a slender build and short hair. Marshall PD to honor fallen officers during National Police Week
MARSHALL, Texas (KETK) – Police departments across the country, including East Texas departments, are preparing to honor fallen officers during National Police Week, which will be held this May. Beloved Pyron House to remain open to public under new ownership The Marshall Police Department will host the memorial service on May 15, on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, to honor the lives of fallen officers throughout this past year. The service will be held at the Marshall Convention Center beginning at noon. The Marshall Police Department, Harrison County Sheriff's Office and other local law enforcement agencies will honor fallen officers from across the country. Additionally, fallen officers will be honored during the 37th Annual Candlelight Vigil on May 13 in Washington. The vigil will remember the lives of officers whose names are engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. In 2025, 345 officers will be engraved on to the wall, including 148 officers who were killed in 2024. There are currently 24,412 names engraved on the memorial wall. Suspects sought in Mississippi home invasion; victims tied up, robbed
GULFPORT, Miss. (WJTV) – Harrison County deputies are searching for two suspects in connection to a home invasion where they tied up a man and his fiancée. The Sun Herald reported the incident occurred in the 12000 block of Cypress Bayou Drive in Gulfport around 6:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31. Three tribal members sentenced for 2023 Mississippi murder According to Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley, the male victim said he was hit in the head and arm with a machete while outside the home and forced back inside. The two victims were tied up with zip ties. Haley said the suspects took an unknown amount of cash and jewelry. They also took the victim's black 2018 Dodge Charger. The sheriff said the two victims were able to free themselves and drove to local hospital for treatment. Salem man allegedly abused child for taking Mountain Dew can ‘without permission'
CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — A man has been charged after allegedly abusing a juvenile at a residence in Harrison County. On Mach 26, deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office attended two forensic interviews with juvenile victims at Hero's Haven Child Advocacy Center in Clarksburg, according to a criminal complaint. During the interview, one juvenile victim said that on March 18, Cody Johnston, 29, of Salem, 'grabbed [them] by the throat, picked [them] up, squeezed and threw [them] backwards,' deputies said. The juvenile also 'does not feel safe' being around Johnston, the complaint said. WVSP: Children found living in 'simply put, disgusting' conditions in Preston County, couple charged A separate child detailed another incident when Johnston 'grabbed [the victim] by the throat or neck and threw [that child] because [the victim] took one of Johnston's Mountain Dew cans without asking permission,' according to the complaint. 3 persons of interest identified in Shinnston shooting
SHINNSTON, (WBOY) — The Harrison County Sheriff's Office has released the names of three persons of interest, two of which are considered armed and dangerous, in the investigation of a shooting that took place early Friday morning. According to a release emailed to 12 News, law enforcement has requested the public's assistance in locating Cody Earl Hinerman, 27 from Fairmont, Justin Lee Newbrough, 24 from Mannington, and Sierra Brooke Huff, 31 from Fairmont. Hinerman and Newbrough have active felony warrants related to the shooting and are considered armed and dangerous. WATCH: Car narrowly misses child getting off West Virginia school bus Huff is possibly driving a silver Nissan Versa displaying WV registration 79J948. It may have both front and rear end damage. There is no image of Huff available at this time. Just after the shooting, Harrison County Sheriff's Office Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence and found evidence of the crime.
