Calgary Flames' mascot Harvey the Hound on the ballot for the 2025 Mascot Hall of Fame
His bio on this year's list of nominees describes him as happy-go-lucky, hard working, hopeless at times, hungry at most and huggable. Global News The first-ever NHL mascot, since joining the Flames in 1983, Harvey is the only nominee from the National Hockey League on this year's ballot and the sole nominee from a Canadian-based sports team. Harvey is hoping to join two other NHL mascots who are already in the hall of fame: the Montreal Canadiens (and former Montreal Expos) mascot Youppi, and Tommy Hawk from the Chicago Blackhawks. NHL Announces "Harvey's Mountain Classic" On Apr. 13
The NHL continues to expand the game globally. On Wednesday, it announced a new engaging animated series featuring several teams, including the Calgary Flames. On Apr. 13, fans who tune into the Flames and San Jose Sharks game will experience Harvey's Mountain Classic, a collaboration between the organization, the league, and Sportsnet. According to the NHL's news release, Harvey the Hound, the Flames' mascot will travel to the Rocky Mountains and play in an outdoor game. Moreover, the league promotes the event as the "first real-time, full-length NHL animated data visualization to be carried in Canada." Besides the Flames game on Apr. 13, here's a rundown of other animated events coming to and the league's YouTube page: Mar. 11 - Best Snow Day Ever - Boston Bruins v. Florida Panthers Mar. 16 - NHL Showcase presented by Dr. Simi+ - Colorado Avalanche v. Dallas Stars Mar. 29 - Hockey Paradise - Tampa Bay Lightning v. New York Islanders Apr. 1 - Music City Hockey in Smashville - Nashville Predators v. Columbus Blue Jackets Additionally, for fans who follow the Sharks or are interested in more content, the team will release short-form animated clips between Mar. 15 and Apr. 16.
