Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Two rounds of talks concluded by 8.30pm Saturday, with a third round underway late into the night. There is no official word on which demands have been agreed upon. The student delegation, comprising 12 representatives, submitted a comprehensive document to the committee. The dossier includes medical reports, video evidence, and testimonies from students allegedly injured during the June 10 incident. The delegation demanded justice and urged the committee to ensure a fair and timely resolution. The govt formed the committee on Friday, following the students' declaration that they would no longer engage with the university administration, citing repeated administrative actions taken against them. The committee includes education minister Mahipal Dhanda, PWD minister Ranbir Gangwa, social justice and empowerment minister Krishna Bedi, and Nalwa MLA Randhir Panihar. The agriculture minister—despite the university's focus—was excluded from the panel. Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini earlier stated that the Haryana govt stood firmly with students and youth, and would ensure no injustice was done to them. On Saturday morning, students began their day with a group yoga session in observance of International Yoga Day. They emphasised that the protest is not only a physical movement but also a demonstration of mental discipline, resilience, and unity. The students also chanted Om and recited the Preamble of the Constitution during the session, creating a solemn and spirited atmosphere at the protest site. Haryana to set up mandis to procure organic foodgrains, fruits in Hisar, Gurugram

In a major push to promote natural farming on a large scale in Haryana and raise awareness among farmers, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday announced to set up natural and organic food-grain procurement mandis in Gurugram and Hisar. While mandi in Gurugram will cater to produce such as wheat, paddy and pulses, Hisar mandi will deal with fruits and vegetables grown through natural and organic methods. Ever since the natural farming scheme was launched in Haryana in 2022 as many as 1.84 lakh farmers have registered 2.73 lakh acre land on the portal. Of these, 10,550 farmers have been verified for practicing natural farming on 17,087 acres. Haryana has set a target of bringing one lakh acre land under natural farming in 2025–26 financial year. Addressing the natural farming conference organised on the occasion of World Environment Day at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Saini said that a committee will be formed under the Haryana Kisan Kalyan Pradhikaran to determine fair pricing for produce grown using natural and organic farming practices. He further announced financial support of ₹20,000 per farmer for branding and packaging of natural farming products. Dedicated laboratories will also be established to test produce from natural and organic farming. These labs will offer testing services free of cost to farmers, he said. The chief minister also announced that 53-acre land belonging to the agriculture department in block Pundri of district Kaithal will be leased to farmers engaged in natural farming through an auction process. He said that in every panchayat 10% of panchayat land or at least one acre will be reserved exclusively for natural farming. This land will be allotted only to landless farmers via auction. As an additional incentive, those who will practice natural farming on government or panchayat land will also receive ₹3,000 per farmer for purchasing four drums used in storing and processing raw materials under the Natural Farming Scheme. A subsidy of ₹30,000 will also be provided for the purchase of a desi cow. He said that natural farming will not only provide a new direction to agriculture in Haryana but also serve as an inspiration for the entire country. Saini said that under the subsidy being given on the purchase of indigenous cows for natural farming, so far, ₹1.23 crore has been disbursed directly to farmers. In addition, ₹75 lakh has been provided to 2,500 farmers for the procurement of storage drums. Gujarat governor and a strong proponent of natural farming Acharya Devvrat while addressing the farmers said that adopting natural farming is now the need of the hour to steer the country towards sustainable agriculture. Highlighting the adverse effects of chemical farming, he said that the excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides is degrading soil fertility and severely impacting human health, contributing to the rising incidence of diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart ailments.

A zero FIR for murder, initially filed by Rajasthan police, was formally registered by Hisar police, who are now leading the investigation. Accompanied by other family members, Gayatri visited the residence of the accused, Udesh Yadav, along with a police team. Tanuj Sharma, DSP, said investigators recovered a petrol bottle and burned clothes from Udesh Yadav's university quarters. Haryana Agricultural University job fraud: After 2 years, main accused arrested

Hisar: In a two-and-a-half-year-old case of fraud involving fake job promises at Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Sadar police here on Wednesday arrested the main accused, Ajay, a resident of Bugana village. According to police officials, the accused conned a man out of Rs 20 lakh by falsely claiming he could secure him and his brother jobs at the university. Ajay and his associates allegedly introduced the victim to a man they said was a relative of the vice-chancellor of HAU. Investigating officer ASI Vikram said an FIR was lodged on July 11, 2024, against four individuals, including Ajay. The complainant said he first met Ajay and another accused, Naseeb, in June 2021 at a local flex shop. They claimed to have strong connections and offered to arrange govt jobs. A month later, Ajay and Naseeb introduced the complainant to a third individual, falsely claiming he was a relative of the university's vice-chancellor. They promised jobs at the Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) for Rs 15 lakh each and collected Rs 20 lakh in advance. The accused also asked for documents to be sent via WhatsApp. Subsequently, the complainant received fake joining letters for his brothers. However, the accused continued to delay the process, citing verification procedures by the department. After nearly 10–11 months of waiting, the complainant contacted the university administration and discovered that the joining letters were fake. Realising he was duped, the victim reported the matter to the authorities. Two other accused, Naseeb and Vijay Sura, were arrested earlier in connection with the same case. Ajay, now in custody, also faces similar charges in cases registered at Civil Lines and HTM police stations. MSID:: 120555896 413 |
