We hate Pakistan as much as we hate RSS because both have been supporters of the 2 Nation Theory." Following the viral post, BJP and RSS supporters expressed outrage, leading to a major uproar at the Municipal Corporation office today. BJP workers gathered at the Municipal Corporation, where they began by protesting against Hasan and burning her effigy. At the time, Nazia Hasan was inside her office. As the situation escalated, police forces from multiple stations were called in to control the crowd. Sadar SDPO Amit Kumar arrived at the scene and intervened by speaking to both sides in an effort to defuse the tension. He suggested that Deputy Mayor Nazia Hasan issue an apology, which she agreed to. However, while speaking to the media, Nazia Hasan stated that her apology was made under pressure from the administration. She argued that if anyone had an objection to her post, they should have pursued legal means instead of launching a direct attack on her. First Published: May 31, 2025, 21:56 IST

'I want to win World Cup for Pak'

Hasan Ali claimed a five-wicket haul during the first T20I against Bangladesh on Wednesday. Photo. AFP Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali on Thursday expressed his strong desire to help Pakistan win the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, calling every match an opportunity to prove himself after a tough battle with injury and rehabilitation. Speaking on the Pakistan Cricket Board's podcast, Hasan reflected on his journey back to the national side and the emotional weight of returning to form. "If you ask me, I want to play for Pakistan in the World Cup and win it for my country. For me, every match is now an opportunity, and I will give my 100 percent," he said. The 30-year-old made a stunning comeback on Wednesday in the first T20I against Bangladesh at Gaddafi Stadium, taking a five-wicket haul and becoming only the fourth Pakistani bowler to achieve this feat in T20Is. Hasan emphasised that while a player's performance can fluctuate, consistent effort is non-negotiable. "Performance may vary, but your effort on the field should always be visible. At the end of the day, I want to leave the field with the satisfaction that I gave my all," he said. Reflecting on his injury and the rehab phase, Hasan said the journey back was filled with challenges. "Coming back from injury is never easy. There is a unique pressure to it. I am grateful and proud that I managed to get fit again. A lot of hard work went into it, and I am finally seeing the results," Hasan said. He described his return to the Pakistan team as a dream come true and reaffirmed his determination to perform at the highest level. "It feels like a dream has come true. I am very excited and committed to performing well for the team. There is no substitute for hard work," he concluded. Nawaz wants to win Pakistan's aggressive batter Hasan Nawaz on Thursday expressed his strong determination to deliver top performances for the national team. He revealed that he has now been assigned a middle-order role, which he is fully committed to fulfilling. Hasan played a blistering innings of 44 runs off just 22 balls, including four sixes and two fours, in the first T20I against Bangladesh on Wednesday - a knock that played a key role in Pakistan's victory. The 22-year-old also impressed in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 while playing for Quetta Gladiators, where he finished as the third-highest run-scorer. Hasan amassed 399 runs in the tournament, including one century and three half-centuries. Speaking on the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) podcast, Hasan said that although he has primarily opened the batting throughout his career, he is now ready to adapt to his new responsibility in the middle order. "I have always been an opener. I did not know I could perform this well in the middle order too. But now that I have been given the role, I will try my best to fulfill it," he said. Hasan also shared that he never succumbs to pressure - rather, he thrives under it. "Whether it's domestic cricket or the PSL, I have never felt pressure. I actually play better under pressure, and that is why my performance remains strong." Expressing his ambitions, Hasan said he aims to play and win as many matches as possible for Pakistan. He also dreams of being part of a World Cup-winning squad. "My goal is to play and win more matches for Pakistan. My dream is to be part of the team whenever Pakistan wins a major trophy," he concluded.

Hasan and Agha lead new-look Pakistan to 37-run win over Bangladesh in T20

Fast bowler Hasan Ali grabbed a 5-30 and led a new-look Pakistan T20 cricket team to a thumping 37-run win over Bangladesh in the opening game of their three-match series. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha made a career-best 56 as Pakistan posted a competitive 201-7 after Agha won the toss and elected to bat in Mike Hesson's first assignment as Pakistan's new white-ball head coach. Hasan, playing only his second Twenty20 international in more than 2-1/2 years, dismissed both openers with the new ball and claimed three more wickets in the death overs to bowl out Bangladesh for 164 in 19.2 overs. Pakistan dropped seasoned batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in a bid to look for youngsters, who could bat aggressively — especially in the power play. The selectors also overlooked fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi for the home series despite the left-arm fast bowler leading Lahore Qalandars to their third Pakistan Super League title in four years last Sunday (June 1, 2025). Hasan rocks BangladeshIn the absence of Afridi, Hasan provided Pakistan early breakthroughs despite Tanzid Hasan smashing three sixes and two fours in his brisk 31-run knock off 17 balls. Parvez Hossain Emon, who scored a century against United Arab Emirates in a T20 last week, could score only four as he mistimed a pull shot against Hasan and was caught on the edge of the circle. Tanzid's aggression was also cut short by Hasan's knuckle ball as the left-hander got deceived by slowness of the delivery and was clean bowled in the fourth over. Skipper Litton Das (48) and Towhid Hridoy (17) combined in a 63-run stand off 48 balls but the asking rate always kept creeping as Shadab Khan bowled a tidy four-over spell of 2-26. Das was smartly caught at point by Fakhar Zaman as he tried to square cut Shadab in the 12th over and Hridoy was out plumb leg before wicket when he tried to play across the line against left-arm spinner Khushdil Shah in the next over. Jaker Ali countercharged briefly with 36 off 20 balls that included three sixes and a boundary but was caught at short fine leg as he tried to play Hasan's short ball but top-edged to Abrar Ahmed. Hasan also took a brilliant running catch to dismiss Tanzim Hasan Sakib before he finished off Bangladesh innings when No. 11 Shoriful Islam was caught at long-off. Agha and Shadab spur PakistanPakistan had a bumpy start when Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman, both returning to international cricket after injuries, fell inside the first eight balls. Saim offered a tame return catch off the first ball he faced against Mahedi Hasan and Zaman played Shoriful across the line and was adjudged leg before wicket. But Mohammad Haris, replacing wicket-keeper batter Rizwan, didn't hold back and counterpunched in the power play with a brisk 31 off 18 balls. Fast bowler Tanzim intelligently varied his pace and dismissed Haris soon after the powerplay before Agha and Pakistan's new T20 batting sensation Hasan Nawaz took charge. Agha smashed eight fours and a six while Nawaz, who was adjudged PSL player of the tournament, smashed four sixes and a two fours in his belligerent 44 runs off just 22 balls. Agha fell to a soft dismissal when he chipped an easy catch to extra cover of Mahmud's high full toss while Nawaz smashed Rishad Hossain for two fours and a six before offering a straightforward catch to the spinner in the 14th over. But Shadab took charge in the final four overs as Pakistan scored 51 off the last 23 balls before Shadab holed out at mid-on off the penultimate ball. All the six Bangladesh bowlers were amongst the wickets with Shoriful bagging 2-32, but Rishad returned with expensive figures of 1-55. Lahore will also host the remaining two games on Friday (May 30, 2025) and Sunday (June 1, 2025).

Mental health presentations to GPs surge, Myhealth says

Don't miss out on the headlines from Mental Health. Followed categories will be added to My News. GPs are seeing a sharp increase in the number of patients with mental health problems and it's beginning to take its toll on doctors. Dr Mohammed Hasan, Myhealth's chief medical officer and practising GP, said mental health presentations have skyrocketed in the past four years. 'Anecdotally, we have seen about a 50 per cent increase in the number of patients presenting to us with anxiety or mental health challenges,' he said. 'Before Covid, about one in five patients would have a challenge. 'Now it's more like one in three.' The sharp rise in mental health concerns has been overwhelming for GPs, many of whom are needing more time off work to deal with burnout. 'Yes, we are trained to look after psychological health, but it is taxing,' Dr Hasan said. 'It leads to compassion fatigue. 'The more you see and then you sort of reach your tipping point where you're like, 'I need to take leave'.' Medibank, which holds a 90 per cent share in Myhealth, has called for an urgent shake-up of the medical system to address Australia's worsening mental health crisis. Andrew Wilson, psychiatrist and Medibank's group chief medical officer, said the current way of treating patients was fragmented. 'When we look at people that have got mental health problems and mental disorders, we know that the best approach is what we'd call a biopsychosocial approach that looks at biological or medical factors, psychological factors, and then social and environmental factors,' he said. 'It's just not realistic to think that one health professional or support person can deal with all of those issues. 'So we know that when we look at a multidisciplinary team, so that's GPs, psychologists, social workers, mental health nurses, and probably some specialist support from psychiatrists like me, we're going to get the best outcome from the patient because we are going to be able to address all of those components.' The Albanese Government made an election promise to pour $1bn of funding into mental health support. Dr Wilson said the funding must be co-ordinated under a multidisciplinary approach. 'We know that the mental health of our community is going backwards,' he said. 'The prevalence of mental disorders in young people is increasing. 'This is potentially an emerging crisis for our country and we need to do something about it, and the way to deal with this at an early intervention and prevention space is using our primary care system, using our GPs and their clinics to actually be the fulcrum from which we improve mental health.' Can We Talk? is a News Corp awareness campaign, in partnership with Medibank, helping Australian families better tackle mental wellbeing. How anger over mom's mugging fuelled Hasan Ali's brilliant T20I comeback

Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has revealed that his mother was mugged at his hometown of Gujranwala before the first T20 International against Bangladesh here and he channelised his anger over the incident for a match-winning five-wicket haul in the game. Hasan, making a comeback to the Pakistan team after nearly a year took 5 for 30, his best T20 international figures, to set up a 39-run win for Pakistan at the Gadaffi stadium in Lahore on Wednesday night. "I was very upset about hearing about the incident with my mother but my family told me to focus on my comeback," Hasan said. His mother escaped unhurt but the muggers snatched her purse in a market, resulting in the loss of 230,000 Pakistani Rupees. Despite being shaken by the incident, Hasan said he was quite happy with hsi performance. Live Events "I was scheduled to fly to England to play for Warwickshire immediately after the Pakistan Super League but the national selectors then told me I am playing in the series against Bangladesh and it was a big boost for me," he said. Hasan said when he last played for Pakistan in Dublin last year and first picked up his elbow injury, he didn't realise the seriousness of the problem. "Later I realised and was told it is a career-threatening injury if I don't follow the complete rehabilitation process. I have worked very hard in the last months with my support team which helped me overcome the injury and make a comeback," Hasan said. "What I realized is that form will come and go but the most important thing for a professional is to remain 100 per cent fit all the time." PTI Cor PM PM PM
