TakaHisa partners with Hatta Honey in UAE Royal-Led sustainability initiative
Gulf Network On April 22nd, a signing ceremony was held at a traditional Majlis in the United Arab Emirates between H.H. Engr. Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi and the renowned Japanese fine dining restaurant TakaHisa . The agreement formalized an exclusive partnership for the supply of locally produced honey from Hatta Honey—a leading brand owned and managed by the UAE royal family. This collaboration represents more than a sourcing agreement; it is a meaningful alliance rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a long-term vision for sustainability. While TakaHisa is widely known for importing premium ingredients directly from Japan, such as fresh fish from Toyosu Market and top-grade wagyu beef, the restaurant has also embraced the responsibility of playing an active role in shaping a sustainable future for its second home, the UAE. The partnership reflects TakaHisa's growing focus on environmental stewardship and supporting local production and consumption. As part of this initiative, 21 beehive boxes—a number chosen to represent TakaHisa's founding year of 2021—have been donated to the Hatta Honeybee Garden and Discovery Centre, alongside the planting of 100 trees to support pollination and ecological balance. These efforts are expected to yield approximately 875 kilograms of honey annually, which will be used exclusively in TakaHisa's culinary offerings, including desserts and seasonal creations. TakaHisa remains committed to proving that fine dining can be a force for environmental and social good. Through the use of locally sourced ingredients, the restaurant supports a sustainable food ecosystem and deeper connection with the local community. In a joint statement, Chef Taka and Chef Hisa expressed their deep appreciation for the UAE: 'We are truly grateful to the UAE, which has nurtured us and supported our growth as a home-ground restaurant. This land has given us countless opportunities, and it is our honor to give back. Through this partnership, we hope to contribute meaningfully to the UAE's sustainable regional development.' This partnership stands as a compelling example of how fine dining and sustainability can go hand in hand. For TakaHisa, social responsibility is not an obligation—it is a core value. Through initiatives like this, the brand reaffirms its dedication to preserving nature, honoring culture, and strengthening its bond with the UAE, the place it proudly calls home. Located in Banyan Tree Dubai, Bluewaters Island, TakaHisa is celebrated for its mastery of sushi and premium Wagyu, setting the gold standard for Japanese fine dining in the UAE. Led by Chefs Takashi Namekata and Hisao Ueda, the restaurant blends authentic Japanese traditions with contemporary artistry, delivering a truly immersive gastronomic experience. Recognised by the Michelin Guide 2024, awarded three Toques by Gault&Millau, and ranked No. 41 in Middle East & North Africa's 50 Best Restaurants, TakaHisa has consistently pushed the boundaries of culinary excellence.
