Here's Who Our Forum Members Think Should Be the Next Balenciaga Creative Director…

You might not need reminding that Balenciaga is without a creative director, and an announcement of a new visionary for the Paris-based fashion house is imminent. In March (following the not-so-unexpected exit of Sabato De Sarno at Gucci), Demna ultimately became Gucci creative director. As a result, the Georgian designer leaves his post at Balenciaga, scheduled to present his final collection in July during Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week. Previous creative directors of Balenciaga (founded in 1917 by Cristóbal Balenciaga) include Michel Goma (1987-1992), Josephus Thimister (1992-1997) Nicolas Ghesquière (1997-2012), and Alexander Wang (2013-2015). Currently without a job within the world of fashion are John Galliano, Hedi Slimane, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Kim Jones – the list goes on. Who will be the next Balenciaga creative director is the question on everyone's lips. 'Galliano x Balenciaga would be nice if we could get the fresh and dynamic Galliano from Dior early 2000s. No one really wants the autopilot burnout Galliano from the early 2010s.' [FashionPower] 'Seriously speaking, it has to be Daniel [Roseberry]. It's a perfect match. Just imagining what he would cook up with the archives is already making me dream. Make Balenciaga Great Again!' [Marc10] 'Pieter Mulier for Balenciaga would be fantastic!' [cheapthrills] 'Give me Pierpaolo Piccioli and I'll be happy. However, seeing Roseberry and Mulier I wouldn't be disappointed.' [fashionlov] 'I want Claire Waight Keller for Balenciaga. She was done so dirty by Givenchy and LMVH, but we still have her to thank for one of the best HC shows of the past decade or so (not that there's been a lot of competition).' [fruitdots] 'Please let it be someone who can respect the craft of couture and make us dream again. I can't stand the disgusting streetwear that the brand has become known for.' [IsabelMarantBoy] 'I can only see Kanye taking over with the current direction they are going…' [GreyVetiver] 'I really don't care who goes where by now. I am so tired.' Back in September, Jean Paul Gaultier announced Ludovic de Saint Sernin as a guest designer. Following in the footsteps of Chitose Abe, Glenn Martens, Olivier Rousteing, Haider Ackermann, Julien Dossena, Simone Rocha, and Nicolas di Felice, LdSS was handpicked by the legendary French designer to design a couture collection. Today, during the Spring 2025 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week, Ludovic (who launched his eponymous label in 2017) unveiled his long-awaited Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Spring 2025 collection. Ludovic ultimately reflected on Jean Paul Gaultier's early days at Hermès and instructed his cast of models to amp up the drama on the runway to each represent different characters. Entitled 'The Shipwreck', the lineup was packed with JPG's signature corsetry and nautical references. 'A parade of nothingness.' [brandon J pierre] 'They should have invited Dilara Findikoglu if they wanted cheap copies of Alexander McQueen's looks, at least she would have given us a better show than this parade of nothingness. This collection feels literally empty, there's no substance.' [perhydrol] 'Project Runway… the Jean Paul Gaultier challenge.' [helmutnotdead] 'It's impossible to hate on this diva. The collection wasn't as bad as I was expecting and I kinda wish I had an ounce of his confidence.' [Snejena Onopka] 'Ludovic de Saint Sernin is my guilty pleasure. I loved it. I didn't expect anything and yet I was impressed. This is a better Gaultier than what Simone Rocha did. I love that even though he did the Gaultier tropes, he explored some others side of Gaultier.' [Lola701] 'I'm not even going to lie. I loved it !!! I actually found the pieces beautiful and sexy without being the pornfest I was expecting. The modeling was good too from most of the models.' Kylie Jenner sparks surgery speculation after Paris Fashion Week appearance in plunging gold dress

Reality television star and beauty mogul Kylie Jenner drew attention with her latest social media post featuring highlights from her appearance at the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week show. The 27-year-old shared a series of photos on Instagram, showcasing her gold plunging dress designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. Jenner's outfit quickly became a talking point among fans, with several commenting on her look. Some social media users speculated about whether she had undergone another cosmetic procedure, particularly focusing on her cleavage. Comments ranged from admiration to speculation, with some referencing her previous admission about undergoing breast augmentation. The post included a variety of images, beginning with a Polaroid of Jenner in her gold dress, followed by a selfie and behind-the-scenes content from the event. She also shared clips of the runway, including footage of model Amelia Hamlin walking in the show. While Jenner posted a video of herself walking down the runway, she did not participate as a model but was among the celebrity attendees. Jenner traveled to France for the Spring/Summer 2025 Haute Couture Fashion Week and made another notable appearance at Chanel's show earlier in the week. For that event, she wore a cropped tweed blazer with gold buttons and a matching miniskirt. She also revealed that Chanel had sent 30 handbags, worth over £120,000, to her hotel room for her to choose from. In 2023, Jenner disclosed on The Kardashians that she had undergone a breast augmentation at 19 but later expressed regret, advising others to wait until after having children before considering the procedure. She has two children, Stormi and Aire, with rapper Travis Scott.

The Spring 2025 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week is officially a-go, with Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli kicking off the fashion festivities with an almighty bang earlier today. At the Petit Palais, the American designer who joined Schiaparelli as creative director in 2019, continued to demonstrate his vision for the storied Paris-based fashion house. The surrealist-inspired collection boasted bold silhouettes and intricate ornate detailing. As a love letter to the art of haute couture, Roseberry took a deep dive into the history of couture, researching the work of Madame Grès and Azzedine Alaïa for a lineup of show-stopping Art Deco gowns and modernized silhouettes of the 1950s. The drama was undoubtedly in the dazzling details for the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring 2025 collection aptly titled 'Icarus'. IMAGES | 'I am loving what I see.' [Salvatore] 'Please call Agatha Christie. Another murder in Paris. Someone was killing it!' [Monsieur Cristobal] 'The dress on Mona Tougaard looks very Oscar-worthy.' [thiago] 'Gorgeous! Repetitive, but gorgeous nonetheless. The only thing that concerns me about Daniel Roseberry's work is that at one point it really does become repetitive. For example with John at Dior there was always this incredible element of surprise, every show. With Schiaparelli it feels safe, nothing scandalous, nothing surprising at all…' [proseccotabis] 'I love it all! Daniel Roseberry never misses.' [mepps] 'This collection is stunning, with amazing craftsmanship and technique, such a refreshing contrast to the gimmicky 'couture' elements of Jacquemus's latest show.' [vogue22] 'I think the Schiaparelli by Roseberry is recognizable in Couture at least. It's very sculptural, snatched, controlled and there's an interesting balance between volumes and the lean silhouette. The quality is quite amazing.' [Lola701] 'As always, I find this exquisitely beautiful. Echoing what's already been stated in this thread, his collections tickle a couture bone like no other brand/designer out there right now. It's rich, opulent, elegant, amazingly crafted, interesting to look at and pushing the boundaries of couture techniques and of the brand's heritage. Plus, it's desirable.' Forum Members Review the ‘Alaïa on a Budget' Jacquemus Spring 2025 Collection

Paris has been a hub of activity over the past week, with the Fall 2025 season of Menswear Paris Fashion Week having been in full swing. To present his co-ed Spring 2025 collection, Simon Porte Jacquemus chose to return to the French capital. Previously, the French designer has ventured to locations like Capri, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, and Versailles to stage his buzz-worthy shows. Today, on the even of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week, Jacquemus welcomed guests like Pamela Anderson and Tyla into the Parisian apartment of pioneering French architect Auguste Perret. For the rather intimate affair, models (including Christy Turlington and Irina Shayk) emerged from backstage and took it slow and steady around the halls and rooms in a collection paying homage to the 1950s, the glamour of old-Hollywood, and French couture standards. 'Poorly made Alaïa by Pieter Mulier.' [avonlea002] 'Alaïa on a budget.' [carls56] 'There seems to be a lot going on and a lot of technical 'discrepancies'. That dress on Adriana Lima is not what Jacquemus thinks it is. He is designing for social media moments without any care for how these clothes will work in a woman's or man's wardrobe. His clothes look crunchy, stiff, and tortured.' [reese06] 'Why is he trying to be other brands? Looks like Alaïa/The Row/Khaite.' [rowjellies] 'Industry friends told me he just hired the head of design of Alaïa so I guess the comparisons make sense…' [Thefrenchy] 'This man is literally pouring his money into every single department of his company except for his atelier. That coat makes Christy Turlington look like she has a hunched back. When a garment gives you a bad posture, it's a no from me.' [THD96] 'I think this show is a small improvement on his previous work. But it's still not hitting the right notes.' [Norden] See all the looks from the Jacquemus Spring 2025 collection and join the conversation, here.
