HONOLULU (KHON2) — A new high-tech tool from the University of Hawaii at Manoa is giving the public unprecedented access to live weather data across the islands. University of Hawaii braces for potential job losses, funding cuts The Hawaii Mesonet Dashboard, developed by UH researchers, features information from over 65 monitoring stations statewide. It's updated every 15 minutes and provides real-time data on temperature, rainfall, wind speed, humidity, solar radiation and soil moisture. Researchers said this system is designed to help track Hawaii's changing weather with precision, especially given the state's unique geography and climate patterns. 'From the beginning, we recognized that it would have little value if we were not able to get the data to the people who need it, and get it to them on time, in real time.' The dashboard is already being hailed as a game-changer for emergency response, wildfire prevention, agriculture and climate planning, especially as extreme weather events become more frequent and severe.
