Winners Announced for DAR Junior American Citizen and American History Essay Contest
The Carrollton Manor Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is proud to announce their local winners of the National Society DAR Junior American Citizen (JAC) and the American History Essay contests.
The theme of the 2024-2025 JAC contest was 'Sailing with the Stars and Stripes to Celebrate the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.'
The following students won first place at the local chapter and Maryland State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (state) levels:
JAC – ART CONTEST
* Mina Anderabi, Brunswick Elementary School — First Grade Stamp
* Riley Sterba, Centerville Elementary School — Second Grade Stamp
* Graycn Sterba, Urbana Middle School — Sixth Grade Stamp
* Aixin Ables, Urbana Middle School — Seventh Grade Stamp
* Aiwen Ables, Urbana Middle School — Eighth Grade Stamp
JAC – CREATIVE EXPRESSION
* Brooklyn Kendall, Urbana Elementary School — Third Grade Short Story
* Hayley Kendall, Urbana Elementary School — Fifth Grade Poem
* Charlotte Cole, Urbana Middle School — Sixth Grade Short Story
* Aanika Vanguri, Winsor Knolls Middle School — Seventh Grade Short Story
Hayley Kendall also submitted an entry for the American History Essay Contest, for which she won at the chapter level, and placed second at state.
