Best-selling hair growth products to buy in Australia: These are the 7 products shoppers swear by

Hair shedding every time you brush? Noticing more scalp than strands? You're not alone. Hair thinning is a very real issue for Aussies, and whether it's stress, hormones, or simply genetics, the effects can seriously dent your confidence. But there's good news: you don't have to just put up with it. We spoke to John Pulitano, co-owner and Creative Director of Headcase Hair, who's been treating thinning hair for decades. 'I see it every day,' he says. 'And trust me, with the right treatments, you can absolutely turn things around.' According to John, regular trims do make a difference. 'I've seen long-term clients who skip their appointments lose volume over time. But when they're consistent with their cuts, the hair stays healthier and fuller.' If your thinning is mild or just starting, there are also excellent at-home options, and we've rounded up the best. From scalp serums and LED tech to shampoo swaps and supplement support, here are seven of the most effective treatments you can use right now. 1. Hobe Labs Energizer Hair Follicle Stimulator, $25.77 at iHerb Affordable and effective, this herbal spray gives your scalp a real wake-up call. Packed with 10 herbs, jojoba, and panthenol, this scalp spray is a cult classic for a reason. Designed to stimulate sluggish follicles and promote new growth, it's perfect for early signs of thinning. Bonus: it smells fresh and won't weigh your hair down. 2. CurrentBody LED Hair Growth Helmet, $1,159.99 at CurrentBody Yes, it's pricey, but this sci-fi-looking helmet actually works. Powered by red light therapy, this helmet targets DHT, boosts circulation, and keeps follicles in their growth phase. Just 10 minutes a day can lead to noticeably thicker, stronger hair in as little as 16 weeks. Ideal for those serious about long-term hair health. Always read the label and follow the directions for use. 3. Bondi Boost Anti-Thinning Trio, $91 at BondiBoost A natural haircare system your scalp will love. This Aussie-made shampoo, conditioner and serum trio is rich in Rosemary, Saw Palmetto and Nettle Leaf – known to stimulate growth and calm inflammation. It's also f ree from nasties like sulphates and silicones. Consider it your new self-care ritual. 4. Robe Haircare The Tonic, $69.99 at Adore Beauty The sleek scalp serum that's secretly multitasking. Fragrance-free and featherlight, this serum gets right down to the follicle to wake up growth. It also helps tackle early greys and won't mess with colour-treated or keratin-smoothed hair. If your scalp's been feeling neglected, this is your hero product. 5. The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density, $36.30 at Adore Beauty The cult skincare brand's hidden gem for hair. This leave-in serum is loaded with powerful peptides like Redensyl and Procapil to encourage denser, fuller hair over time. It's easy to apply, not greasy, and gives a nice cooling tingle. And yes, it's affordable too. 6. Patricks Plus Set Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo and Conditioner, $190 at PATRICKS Looks like a luxury set, works like a prescription. This shampoo and conditioner duo doesn't mess around – it's got DHT-blockers, peptides, and biotin all in one. Great for men and women dealing with serious shedding, it's a clinical-level treatment disguised as a bougie bathroom upgrade. 7. Coco & Eve Tripeptide Hair Density Serum, $50 at Coco & Eve TikTok's favourite hair serum for a reason. Formulated with three clinically backed peptides, this serum tackles thinning by strengthening the scalp and reducing fall-out. It's lightweight, smells lush, and works well with other products in your routine. Some users see results in just 10 days. So, what else can you do? Wash more often: Oily buildup on the scalp can clog pores and worsen thinning. Take supplements: Brands like AEDE (Australian-made) support hair health from the inside out. Get professional advice: If hair loss is sudden or severe, book in with a trichologist or dermatologist. Don't delay: As John says, 'The sooner you start treatment, the better the result.' Hair loss isn't something you need to suffer through quietly. With today's options, both natural and high-tech, there is a way forward.

A haircut that costs $750: The truth about pricey beauty treatments

Legendary hairstylist and owner of Sydney's Headcase Hair, John Pulitano, has just launched a $750, 90-minute hair service called the Texture Edit for the city's most luxe locks. His take on this high-end experience: 'You're getting a bespoke and comprehensive consultation that is completely led by me. A client in my chair never makes a decision.' This is no ordinary trim; Pulitano says the treatment is aimed at clients seeking to transform their look. 'This isn't just a haircut, it's a full experience,' he says. 'From the moment you sit in my chair, it's about unlocking your hair's full potential through a bespoke approach. You're not paying for time or trend, you're investing in transformation, longevity and personal confidence.' So, what does the Texture Edit entail? 'It begins with a deep-dive consultation where I assess your features, lifestyle and personal style,' Pulitano says. 'From there, you receive a full scalp analysis, a hair 'facial', and my textured cutting technique, which gives shape and movement that lasts for three months.' Even though that works out at $250 a month, the service has a six-month waiting list. For the ultimate in massage luxury, the six-handed body massage at Sydney's Venustus ($1059) involves three therapists massaging in sync for 2½ hours of bliss so unadulterated it will help you forget the steep price. According to the salon's website, 'Our intention is for the nervous system to be relieved the moment someone enters. This is why an unusual but method-based mix of glass, precious metal and natural fibres are interlaid in our [beauty] pods … It's how we design our treatments, too. A magic alchemy response to our clients' needs for nourishment and rest.' When it comes to bespoke facials, Liberty Belle in Melbourne's Toorak combines luxury with efficacy. Plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr Chris Moss – who works closely with his wife and chief executive Andrea Moss, formerly one of the Real Housewives of Melbourne – has a devotion to both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments and skincare for his patients. Liberty Belle's Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment (from $1200) helps skin to heal using concentrated injections of your own platelets, cells in the blood that help it coagulate. A small blood sample is taken and processed in a centrifuge to separate out the platelet-rich plasma. This concentrated PRP is then injected back into the targeted areas to boost the production of collagen and elastin, help soften fine lines and wrinkles, and improve skin texture. This treatment works particularly well around the eyes and along the neckline. ASK STEPH How often should I get a dental check-up? Every six months is recommended for a professional clean and scrape to get rid of plaque build-up and to check for any signs of decay. This is the best way to maintain good oral health. Try Smile Solutions, Melbourne, and Pitt Street Dental Care, Sydney.
