‘Priyanka Chopra never seemed vulnerable even though her father was going through cancer,' co-star reveals Chopra's resilience while filming
Actor Priyanka Chopra has made a name for herself in several different avenues within the entertainment industry, from iconic roles as an actor to collaborations with mega pop stars and transcending the international boundary as a celebrity. Chopra certainly has a number of impressive notches on her belt. One of Chopra's co-stars from the 2008 movie Fashion, Arjan Bajwa, recently opened up about working with the actor while both of them were going through personal turmoil. While talking to Siddharth Kannan on his podcast, Bajwa talked about losing his father, politician SS Bajwa, and not being able to go back to work after. Arjan's father was attacked by a horde of monkeys on the terrace of his home, and he lost balance and fell down from the top. The actor revealed that director Madhur Bhandharkar decided to lay his bets on him and cast him in Fashion, giving the actor a second chance in the industry. He said, 'He gave me an opportunity when all doors were closed to me, and that's why I will always hold him in the highest regard. I tell him to this day that when I was out of everything, he said to me, 'Come on board.'' He shared that among all the people present, he found a friend in his co-star Chopra, who was going through troubles on the personal front as well. 'Priyanka and I were sitting and talking while the shot was getting ready, and her father had just been diagnosed with cancer. We were sitting together and discussing our fathers, and she was also going through something very difficult, but she is a very strong girl, and I never saw her vulnerable or breaking down on the set.' He doubled down on his praise for Chopra and talked about sharing that difficult time with her. 'One can say that the turmoil and talking about it laid a foundation for our friendship. We had mutual respect for each other; she ismely hard-working, and she deserves everything that she has achieved in her life,' added Arjan. Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, the cast of Fashion also included Kangana Ranaut, Mudha Godse, Arbaaz Khan and Kitu Gadwani. Desi fans not impressed by Priyanka Chopra's Heads of State trailer, want Vishal Bharadwaj to send her a script
As Priyanka Chopra's latest Hollywood venture, Head of States trailer dropped, fans back home started giving their reactions. While some appreciated her badass avatar in the Idris Elba and John Cena-starrer thriller, others seemed worried about her being typecast in similar roles in Hollywood. It shows Priyanka playing MI6 agent Noel Bisset, who is on a mission to bring down a global conspiracy. The trailer reminded fans of her roles as Alex Parish from Quantico (2015-2018) and Nadia Sinh from Citadel (and its second season, which will release in 2026). Internet users pointed out the pattern and mulled how they would want the actor back in Bollywood to do much more meaningful roles. A user on Reddit wrote, "This is the most boring trailer I have seen in a while, and I thought Citadel was the boring one. Hollywood is very similar to Bollywood, which is similar to Netflix, these days. Soulless, celeb-packed films with weak stories, cash-making machines, loads of CGI, meh action and monotone dialogues and casts who have no chemistry with each other. It's time PC breaks this pattern. It's been years, we expect better." Another user wrote, "If you ask me, Priyanka doesn't even deserve this based on her track record over 10 years in Hollywood now." "I'm begging Vishal Bhardwaj to send her a script. I want Barfi and 7 Khoon Maaf Priyanka back," the user wrote. The trailer begins with a series of tragic yet comic events, when the US President (played by John Cena) and the UK Prime Minister (played by Idris Elba) realise that they are in danger as their flight is attacked mid-air. Priyanka makes her entry as MI6 agent Noel Bisset and single-handedly takes down gunmen while announcing that there is no backup on this plan. That propels the two heads of states to realise that they better get going and find a way to work together as soon as possible. Directed by Ilya Naishuller, Heads of State premieres globally on Prime Video on July 2. It also stars Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid and Sarah Niles.
