Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers headline 1st Healing Appalachia music festival on Bluegrass soil
ASHLAND, Ky. (FOX 56) — It's official. Two Kentucky natives are set to headline the world's largest recovery-based music festival. After five years in West Virginia, Healing Appalachia announced its move to Kentucky for 2025. The festival will kick off on Sept. 19 on a mountaintop near the Boyd County Fairgrounds in Ashland. Healing Appalachia 2025 brings hope to the bluegrass: New location, same mission 'We are thrilled that the Healing Appalachia team is taking a chance on Boyd County, Kentucky for 2025,' said Andrew Steele, Executive Director of Boyd County Tourism. 'The mission behind the festival is so impactful for our region, and we are excited to show off what Team Kentucky support looks like from local entities all the way up to the state level!' On Monday, April 21, Healing Appalachia announced that Tyler Childers will return alongside Chris Stapleton to headline. 2025 will mark the first year Stapleton will make an appearance and Childers' fifth consecutive headline slot. 'Two sons of the Country Music Highway come home to help us heal Appalachia,' organizers wrote. 'We can't wait to show you what else we've got in store.' Founded and hosted by Lawrence County's Tyler Childers and his team at Whizzbang BAM, Healing Appalachia has generated more than $5 million over the years. Gov. Beshear urges Kentuckians to speak up amid FBI, DOJ, National Guard ‘purge'
FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — Gov. Andy Beshear called on President Donald Trump on Tuesday, urging the president to prioritize the nation's safety. The Hill has reported that the Trump administration has removed dozens of Department of Justice and FBI officials since taking office and that this is just the beginning. Purges at FBI, DOJ trigger 'battle' for career staff Thousands of prosecutors, agents, and lawyers who have worked on Jan. 6 cases or aided in Trump's Mar-a-Lago cases are among those at risk, according to The Hill. On Wednesday, Gov. Beshear shared a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, calling on the president to protect the jobs of guardsmen and agents. 'Our government should keep us safe. Cutting the jobs of FBI agents and our brave National Guard members will do the exact opposite,' Beshear said. 'Let's raise our voice to protect our children, our neighbors, and our communities. We need POTUS and our government to prioritize our safety.' In the video, Beshear revealed that members of the Kentucky National Guard have received emails suggesting that they resign and offering them a severance. He urged Kentuckians to reach out to the federal administration to emphasize the role's importance. 'I'll keep doing my part. Just help me by doing yours,' he concluded. The region took a hard hit amid the opioid epidemic, and Healing Appalachia works to bring resources to give Appalachians a new lease on life. Founded and hosted by Lawrence County Tyler Childers and his team at Whizzbang BAM, Healing Appalachia has generated more than $5 million over the years. Fans have come from far and wide to see acts like Gov't Mule, My Morning Jacket, Shooter Jennings, Sierra Ferrell, Lost Dog Street Band, 49 Winchester, Charles Wesley Godwin, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Galactic, Trey Anastasio, Margo Price, Sierra Hull, and many more. In September, the festival is taking its first step to further its mission. Organizers note that moving Healing Appalachia to other regional states was always part of the plan. Healing Appalachia co-founder and show producer Charlie Hatcher originally envisioned the concert 'like a Farm Aid that would move around Appalachia.' Festival organizers are headed to the hills along Kentucky's Country Music Highway that gave country music stars like Loretta Lynn, Tom T. Hall, The Judds, Dwight Yoakam, Ralph Stanley, Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, and dozens of others. In 2025, Healing Appalachia will kick off on Sept. 19 on a mountaintop near the Boyd County Fairgrounds in Ashland. Hatcher is glad the festival leaves with a great relationship with WV State Fair leadership and has an open door to return. But it was time to make good on that promise to move around the charitable concert.'. Boyd County can't wait to have them. 'We are thrilled that the Healing Appalachia team is taking a chance on Boyd County, Kentucky for 2025,' said Andrew Steele, Executive Director of Boyd County Tourism.
