Student kills self after third attempt at NEET exam in Salem

A student who appeared for the NEET exam for the third time killed himself on Monday, fearing he would not clear the exam. Gowtham, 21, a resident of Narasothipatti near Suramangalam, had previously taken the exam twice but did not secure the required marks. Determined to succeed, he attempted the exam for the third time this year. However, he was reportedly anxious and depressed over his performance, and took his life at his residence on Monday night when he was alone at home. The incident came to light when his parents returned home. Suramangalam police were alerted and sent the body to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Couple found dead in well in Erode

A couple was found dead in a well near Sathyamangalam on Thursday. According to the police, Sakthivel (23), a construction worker from Pudhukothukadu near Sathyamangalam, married Priyadarshini (19) of Chinnakaradu in Indiyampalayam seven months ago. The couple was living at his residence. On Wednesday night, they went to Priyadarshini's mother's house to attend the Mariamman temple festival in Arasur Kullampalayam. An argument reportedly broke out between them, after which they went to sleep. Around 8 a.m. on Thursday, local residents discovered their bodies floating in a well at Chinnakaradu and alerted Fire and Rescue Services. Firefighters retrieved the bodies and sent them to Government Hospital in Sathyamangalam for post-mortem examination. The Kadathur police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. Man dies by suicide at private hospital in Salem

A 60-year-old man died by suicide at a private hospital in Salem city on Wednesday. The police identified the deceased as Paraman, who ran a lorry workshop in Sankari. He was unwell for the past few months and was undergoing treatment at a hospital near the Town Railway Station. On Wednesday, Paraman visited the hospital and consulted with doctors. Later, he ended his life. His body was sent to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his decision.
