YMCA promotes kids health and wellness at free public event
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The YMCA of Wichita Falls is holding its annual kids' event for the entire community on Saturday, April 26. The Healthy Kids Day at the Y invites all families to a fun-filled event that celebrates and hopes to inspire kids to stay active and healthy during their summer school break. Creature teacher animal show coming to RBNC The YMCA's executive director, Troy Griggs, said they are excited to kick off the summer with this event and provide families with a fun and free opportunity. He also thanked his sponsors. 'Election Primer' The League of Women Voters is presenting its 'Election Primer' with Berks County election officials on its monthly Berks Community Television program. It will air Tuesday, April 1, at 9 p.m. on BCTV. It also may be viewed via streaming at Guests are Berks Director of Election Services Anne Norton and Assistant Director Stephanie Nojiri. On May 20, voters will select from among candidates for up to 17 different government positions. History center tour The Berks History Center is offering a free behind-the-scenes tour on Thursday, April 3, at the museum at 940 Centre Ave., Reading. This event provides a rare opportunity to explore sections of the center that are typically off-limits to the public, revealing artifacts and collections not currently on display. During the tour, participants will learn about the center's Revitalization Campaign to upgrade and reconfigure the museum and create new exhibits. History program A reenactor will present a look at Rebecca Lukens, the first U.S. female CEO of an industrial company. The free program will take place Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at the Hopewell Furnace Visitor Center Theater in Union Township. It is presented by the Friends of Hopewell Furnace. Lukens, who ran the Brandywine Ironworks from 1825 to 1850 and for whom the company was renamed, will be portrayed by educator and historian Sharon Brahmstadt. Due to capacity limitations, those interested in attending are encouraged to arrive as early as possible. Garden club The Wyomissing Area Garden Club is holding its first program of the year, 'Welcome Back Springtime,' on Tuesday, April 8, at 1 p.m. in the Wyomissing Library, 9 Reading Blvd. Admission is free.
