He told the audience at Glasgow's Ovo Hydro: "This has never happened to me before but you can hear my voice is going. Olly has since given an update after seeing a doctor and said he has been ordered to go on voice rest for 48 hours. In a lengthly post, the devastated pop star admitted letting his fans down has "hit him hard". "To everyone in Glasgow last night, I want to start by saying sorry,' he said. "What happened last night has never happened to me before and I'm truly gutted and upset about it. "In 15years I've never had to leave the stage after 30minutes into a show, but my voice was failing me. I was panicking and worrying on what to do which gave me no choice but to address it." Olly continued: "The thought of upsetting people and letting you the fans down has hit me hard today. "Speaking in front of you last night and seeing people upset was hard to see but from the bottom of my heart I'm sorry but I had to put my health first." Olly, a dad-of-one, went on to say he is "deeply sorry" for having to cancel this weekend's shows in Manchester and Birmingham. Explaining that he has a "respiratory infection", Olly added: "(I) have been instructed to go on a strict 48 hour voice rest by the doctor to ensure no further damage to my vocal chords. "I've been having the best time on this tour and I'm so sorry to let my fans down, I'm hoping to be fighting fit in a few days to finish this amazing 15 year celebratory tour with a bang." These are unfortunately not the first concerts Olly has had to cancel during his tour. Last month, the former X Factor star apologised to fans with tickets to his Hull and Brighton arena shows in a statement after a stomach bug had "ripped through" his band. In February, he cancelled a show in Dubai at the last minute after being struck down with a throat infection. Olly had been due to perform at Bla Bla Dubai but took to Instagram just hours before the gig to apologise and saying doctors had ordered him to rest. 5 Olly is hoping to be back on stage on Sunday night at London's O2 Arena Credit: Splash 5 He has cancelled shows in Manchester and Birmingham while on voice rest Credit: Splash
