Harpursville CSD employee facing serious criminal charges, fired by district
HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Harpursville Central School District notified families on Monday that an employee was terminated due to an ongoing criminal investigation.
Superintendent Heath Georgia sent out a letter to Harpursville parents stating the district was notified by law enforcement that an employee was arrested and is facing serious criminal charges. Georgia says the district is limited in what it can share due to the ongoing investigation as well as privacy considerations.
Georgia also shared that after receiving this information, immediate action was taken, and the individual is no longer employed by the Harpursville Central School District.
Law enforcement has not indicated that the charges involve any activity that occurred on school grounds or involved students.
Georgia says the district is cooperating with authorities. He says the well-being of students, staff, and community members remains the district's highest priority.
