Two more arrested in Tickfaw fentanyl overdose case

TICKFAW, La. (WGNO) — Two more people have been arrested in connection to a fentanyl overdose death that happened in Tickfaw back in April. According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, on April 8, a 29-year-old Tickfaw man was found unresponsive at a home on John's Drive, and died despite life-saving efforts. On April 25, two people were reported to have been arrested in connection to the investigation, identified as Jordan Kenyatta Spears, of Hammond, and Heather Simms. Driver, pedestrian killed in separate Slidell-area crashes Later, on May 1, TPSO officials reported that 45-year-old Joshua Thompson was identified as Spears' alleged drug supplier and arrested. His home was searched and several drugs, as well as evidence of a drug operation, were reportedly found. Thompson is charged with one count each of second-degree murder, distribution of fentanyl, conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and obstruction of justice. Investigators say that further investigation showed that Mary Kate Fitzsimons, the victim's girlfriend, didn't seek timely help for the victim as he was overdosing.
