Heba El Habashy on Dubai's most stylish restaurants: ‘The ambiance here is just as striking as the menu'

We're diving behind the scenes into the lives of some of the city's biggest names to see exactly what makes them tick. This time, it's over to Heba El Habashy, founder of the new home-grown Klekktic furniture store in Al Quoz. Between bringing dreamy furniture to Dubai living rooms, Time Out Dubai caught up with the designer to find out where she gets her inspo, and see the city through her lens. When you're not at Klekktic, where do you love to browse? Level Shoes – the curation is modern and unique, the buying is on point. I love to window shop, I go to Dubai Mall all the time. A Dubai restaurant that's dressed to impress? La Niña. It's bold with Latin-inspired interiors, rich colours and those statement chandeliers (woah). The ambiance is just as striking as the menu. Name a Dubai dish that has serious style? The sea bream carpaccio from GAIA. Thinly sliced, ultra-fresh, dressed in citrus, premium olive oil and pomegranate. It's simple, elegant and full of flavour. Favourite café in Dubai (and what are you ordering)? To The Moon and Back in Jumeirah. It's small and homey, plus I love the banana bread (alongside a long black). I've been working out of there for a year now. If you could style the home of anyone who would it be? Umm Kulthum. Her voice inspires a space that's grand and soulful. Think rich textures and classic Arabesque details – a warm inviting atmosphere for storytelling and unforgettable gatherings, just like her songs. You're putting a couch down in front of Dubai's best view, where is it? There's a bridge from Jumeirah to Al Quoz. It's super small but you see an incredible view of the skyline at sunset. Best place in the city to switch off? My reformer Pilates class at Karve. It's the best place to disconnect. It's so intense, in a good way. If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be and why? Klekktic's Gavin sofa. It's the perfect balance of cosy and refined – inviting yet stylish. Plus, it's at the heart of the home.
