Rajah Caruth holds off Corey Heim to win NASCAR Truck race at Nashville
LEBANON, Tenn. — Rajah Caruth held off Corey Heim in the final laps to win Friday night's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. Heim finished second in the 150-lap race. Layne Riggs placed third. Daniel Hemric finished fourth. Corey Day completed the top five. 'Those guys were breathing down my neck the whole run,' Caruth told FS1 of Heim and Riggs. " ... We've been off this year but good to get it done tonight.' MORE: Nashville results MORE: Driver points after Nashville Friday's victory is the second career Truck win for Caruth, whose path into racing came via iRacing. He scored his first career Truck win in March 2024 at Las Vegas. That win made him the third Black driver in NASCAR history to win a national NASCAR Series race, joining Hall of Famer Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace. Riggs won the first stage. Heim won the second stage. Heim led 58 laps, becoming the first driver in series history to lead 800 laps in the first 12 races of a season. 'I feel like just clean air was the main thing tonight,' Heim said. 'With the third stage tonight being pretty straight forward, with a lack of strategy and all green, it was tough to come back for the lead, but I slid through my box there on the last stop and didn't do my guys any favors. Just something to reflect on my end, but huge congrats to Rajah (Caruth). 'He did an awesome job managing from the lead. I was really free behind him, and he made pretty much the right move every time where I was going to go.' Caruth is the fifth driver to earn a playoff spot via a win, joining Heim (four wins), Chandler Smith (two), Hemric (one) and Tyler Ankrum (one).

Corey Heim carries dominant momentum into Nashville Truck race
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is on race five of a season-high stretch of six consecutive race weekends with Friday night's stop at Nashville Superspeedway for the Rackley Roofing 200 (8 p.m. ET on FS1, NRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). Championship frontrunner Cory Heim — who will be making his third NASCAR Cup Series start for 23XI Racing on Sunday night — collected his fourth Truck series trophy of the season with a dominant performance last weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, extending his lead atop the standings to 100 points heading into Friday night's race. The driver of the No. 11 Tricon Garage Toyota has twice as many wins (four) and has led three times as many laps (754) as anyone else and only finished outside the top 10 twice in the 11 races to date this year — all series best statistics. Advertisement RELATED: Nashville schedule | Truck standings Heim, however, has never won at Nashville. He has two top-five finishes in three starts, crashing out in his Nashville debut in 2022. He was a career-best third place last year. Take the huge frontrunner Heim out of it, and the standings are a lot closer among the other title contenders. Front Row Motorsports' Chandler Smith, a two-race winner, is second to Heim but holds only a 10-point advantage over McAnally-Hilgemann Racing's Daniel Hemric and a 29-point cushion over Hemric's teammate Tyler Ankrum. No current full-time drivers have ever won on the 1.33-mile Nashville oval. Advertisement Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champ Kyle Busch — who won both the 2010 and 2011 Nashville Truck races from pole position — will be making one of his limited season starts Friday, driving the No. 07 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet. Christian Eckes, who now races full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, led all 150 laps en route to the trophy last year in one of the most dominating showings in years. Practice is at 4:05 p.m. ET Friday followed immediately by Kennametal Pole Qualifying at 5:10 p.m. ET — both sessions airing live on FS1. Stewart Friesen won pole position last year and finished 11th. It's been three years since a polesitter also won the race — Ryan Preece last doing so in 2022.

Rangers C Heim leaves game vs Yankees with throwing hand injury, could return to lineup Thursday
Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Rangers catcher Jonah Heim could return to action as soon as Thursday, one day after leaving Texas' game against the New York Yankees in the second inning due to a right hand injury. Manager Bruce Bochy said Heim suffered a compressed nerve in his throwing hand on Wednesday when he singled for the Rangers' first hit in the top of the second on a chilly night at Yankee Stadium. He was forced out at second base for the final out on a grounder by Jake Burger. Designated hitter Kyle Higashioka warmed up Rangers starter Jacob deGrom while Heim seemed to take an unusually long time to emerge from the dugout in his gear. Heim took one pitch from deGrom and airmailed a throw into centerfield. He was visited by Bochy and a trainer before he motioned to deGrom to throw him the ball. Heim's return throw sailed over deGrom's head before the catcher exited. Bochy said after the Rangers' 4-3 loss to the Yankees that he hadn't spoken to Heim, but was told imaging performed on the catcher showed no damage. '(Everything) came out negative,' Bochy said. 'In fact, they think he can play tomorrow (Thursday).' The 29-year-old Heim is batting .262 with six homers and 17 RBIs in 37 games this season. Tucker Barnhart, the Rangers' No. 3 catcher, took Heim's place in the lineup. ___ More AP baseball: recommended

Corey Heim tells Layne Riggs: 'Calm down or else someone's going to take care of you'
Corey Heim spoke in a calm manner but his message to Layne Riggs was clear after Saturday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. 'You're racing like a (expletive) idiot,' Heim told Riggs on pit road. 'Calm down or else someone's going to take care of you.' Heim then walked away before Riggs could offer a rebuttal. Heim, a 23XI Racing reserve driver who made his first Cup start of the season last week at Kansas, was frustrated after seeing another Truck victory go away this season. Dustin Long, Heim led on the last lap of overtime when Riggs dived low into Turn 1 and came up the track beside Heim in Turn 2. Heim spun. Riggs and Chandler Smith got by. Smith passed Riggs in Turn 3 to win the race. Riggs finished second. Heim, who led a race-high 162 laps, finished 17th. 'Just scum racing on his part,' Heim told Motor Racing Network about Riggs. 'Did it to me earlier in the race and didn't learn his lesson. I've raced him so clean throughout my years. I just continuously get used up by him.' Heim later told FS1: 'I got really loose into (Turn) 3 (on the previous lap). We struggled being loose on the short runs and he had an opportunity to wreck me.' Riggs told MRN: 'We're green-white-checkered racing at North Wilkesboro at the end. I wasn't going to get to him at all. He had the race won. Coming to the white (flag), we went down to (Turns) 3 and 4 and he got really free getting into 3 and opened the bottom up. I drove up under him. 'We got side-by-side on the frontstretch. I dove it in there on the bottom and tried to kind of slide job him. Didn't make it happen. It's disappointing. ... A lot of drama at short track racing. I'm out for me and my team. I want what's best for us.'
