Christian Horner breaks silence on ‘flattering' Ferrari rumours after being tipped to join Lewis Hamilton at F1 giants

CHRISTIAN HORNER has shut down rumours of a move to Ferrari. The Red Bull boss was linked with Lewis Hamilton's team with Ferrari chairman John Elkann said to be a huge admirer of the British 51-year-old. 2 Horner is one of the most successful team principals in F1 history, overseeing eight drivers' titles and six constructors' championships at Red Bull. He most recently signed a new deal in 2021 but is out of contract next year, sparking speculation about his future. When asked if Ferrari contacted him and if it was a job he would ever consider, he replied: 'Of course it's always flattering to be associated with other teams but my commitment 100 per cent is with Red Bull. 'It always has been and certainly will be for the long-term. There's a bunch of speculation always in this business. 'People coming here, going there or whatever. I think people within the team know exactly what the situation is. "My Italian is worse than Flavio [Briatore's] English, so how on earth would that work?' There has been plenty of infighting at Red Bull in recent years involving Max Verstappen's dad Jos and senior adviser Helmut Marko. Four-time world champion Verstappen even declared that he would quit the team if Marko was sacked following rumours he might be suspended. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK 2 A recent clash between the pair saw them support different drivers for the No2 spot following Sergio Perez's departure. Marko is said to have preferred Liam Lawson while Horner was keen on Franco Colapinto after he replaced Logan Sargeant at Williams.

Red Bull faces spare parts crunch after Tsunoda's chilling Imola crash, says ‘just very ashamed, disappointed'

Yuki Tsunoda's high-speed crash in Q1 at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix has dealt a major blow to Red Bull's weekend, with Helmut Marko calling the incident a 'huge setback' amid already tight resources. The crash, which destroyed Tsunoda's upgraded RB21, couldn't have come at a worse time, as Imola kicks off a gruelling triple-header stretch in the Formula 1 calendar. Here's what we know about haunted doll's next destination While Tsunoda walked out safe and unharmed after the crash, the same cannot be said for Red Bull. Tsunoda was testing the upgraded RB21 at Imola, equipped with the same spec floor Max Verstappen debuted in Miami. With this being the first race of a tight triple-header, Helmut Marko has warned that the damage to Tsunoda's car has left Red Bull's spare parts situation 'critical,' putting added pressure on the team for the upcoming races. Speaking to Sky Deutschland, Marko expressed relief that Tsunoda wasn't injured, saying, "Thank God nothing happened to him personally." However, he emphasised the severity of the situation, noting, 'It's a huge setback for us, especially with three races in a row coming up. Monte Carlo, in particular, doesn't leave room for error. Our spare parts situation has become quite critical because of this." But he didn't blame Tsunoda, adding, 'You have to give him security and support. And we will do that.' However, Tsunoda expressed gratitude for his team's support and denied any implications of pressure that led to Imola crash. He said, 'I think the team is supporting me enough to take off pressure as much as possible,' he said. 'I just tried to be a hero in Q1, which is unnecessary. Aiming too much, aiming myself to pass Q1 in just one set.' Also Read: Is Annabelle responsible for Louisiana plantation house fire, New Orleans prison break? The impact sent his car tumbling onto the barrier, where it barrel-rolled before landing back on its wheels in the gravel trap. Fortunately, Tsunoda emerged unscathed, walking away from the wreckage, but his team was left with a long night of repairs to get his car ready for the next session. Tsunoda was apologetic towards his team for all the increased work they were left with after the crash. He told PlanetF1, 'I was just very ashamed, disappointed. It was really stupid for myself, pushing like that, unnecessarily hard.' He continued, 'The only thing I can do is apologise to them and just pray. The car obviously had a big damage, so the mechanics have to do a lot of work until tomorrow; hopefully the car will be ready.' He added, 'Very unnecessary for them, and for myself putting them in the wrong situation.'

Max Verstappen Reveals What ‘Franz Hermann' Is Really Up To at Imola

Max Verstappen arrived at the paddock for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and was immediately met with a cheeky question: 'Are you Max or are you Franz?' The reference, of course, was to his now-viral appearance at Nurburgring under the pseudonym Franz Hermann, where the Red Bull star reportedly broke a GT3 lap record during a secret test. Advertisement Without missing a beat, Verstappen delivered a perfectly dry response. 'Franz is actually having a lot of contract offers at the moment,' he said with a grin. 'So he's actually negotiating his terms for the Nordschleife.' It's another layer in the growing legend of 'Franz,' who has become an inside joke among F1 fans — and a symbol of Verstappen's quiet dominance away from the F1 spotlight. Max Verstappen talks to the media after 2025 Miami GP Sprint Casey-Imagn Images While there's been no official confirmation of his Nurburgring lap time, the story has only grown steam thanks to track insiders and comments from Red Bull's Helmut Marko. The moment also gave fans a glimpse into Verstappen's mindset into Imola — relaxed, confident, and clearly enjoying himself. Advertisement View the original article to see embedded media. Whether it's in an RB20 or a GT3 car under an alias, Verstappen continues to find new ways to make headlines — even if it's through his mysterious 'other driver.' Christian Horner 'on the verge of being SACKED by Red Bull' - as F1 team 'draws up list of potential successors' ahead of Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

Christian Horner 's reign as Red Bull's pit boss could be rapidly drawing to a close, according to reports from Austria. With Horner at the helm, Red Bull have won six Formula One Constructors' Championships, with the team's drivers winning the World Championship on six occasions since 2005. His side have dominated the last four years of the sport, though the back end of the 2024 season saw McLaren emerge as genuine contenders, and this year Red Bull have been outclassed by the British side. So far, Red Bull have only won one race - the Japanese Grand Prix - while McLaren drivers Lando Norris (one) and Oscar Piastri (four) have won the other five. Worse still, consultant Helmut Marko and Max Verstappen, whose future is also far from certain, both expressed concerns over the level of performance the car is able to produce at times during the season. Now, reports are claiming that Red Bull could even part ways with Horner after the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola. It comes after a difficult spell on a personal level for Horner, who in 2024 was accused by a female employee of 'coercive behaviour', accusations he has always denied. In an internal war, the Austrian side of the company headed by Mark Mateschitz, son of the energy drink company's founder Dietrich, were believed to want Horner out. The Englishman was seen as trying to seize too much power in the wake of Dietrich's death in 2022. The Verstappens were inclined to this camp. Horner, however, maintained the support of the Thai end of the business, Dietrich's fellow Red Bull founder, Chalerm Yoovidhya. He remained 51 per cent co-owner of the wider company, as opposed to its F1 derivative, Red Bull GmbH. According to oe24, Red Bull have already been discussing potential successors such as former Alpine boos Oliver Oakes, who only recently left his role there. Similarly, Franz Tost - who led Red Bull's second team on the grid for many years - is also thought to be considered should a mid-season shake-up take place. Interestingly Tost's departure from the junior team came amid clashes with Horner, having left Formula One after 18 years in the sport with Toro Rosso and later Alpha Tauri. During his time in this role, Tost worked alongside future champions Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel, as well as Daniel Ricciardo.

Helmut Marko shares the odds for Miami Grand Prix, mentions the one factor that could make things difficult for all but McLaren

Image credit: Getty Images Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has hinted what the podium could look like at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix. The former car racer has said the high temperatures could once again make things slightly difficult for Red Bull. He said the Miami race could be in McLaren's favour once again, just like what happened in Jeddah. The Miami Grand Prix is scheduled for May 2-4 and will also have the second F1 Sprint of the season. Helmut Marko's prediction for Miami Grand Prix Helmut Marko has analysed the findings from the five races so far, which were held in Australia, China, Japan, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. Sharing his learnings, he wrote in his column for Speedweek, 'Once again, we're talking about a completely different track, but above all, we're expecting higher temperatures. On paper, that's not an advantage for us. In Jeddah, we were eight-tenths behind McLaren in the third practice session, in significantly warmer conditions than later in qualifying. We and the other opponents expected McLaren to drive away from everyone. But that didn't happen.' Talking about the upcoming race, he added, 'In Miami, we still expect the conditions to be more in McLaren's favour. Our task at the moment is to develop a broader working window for our race car, and also to reduce certain weaknesses of the car before the races in Europe and thus improve the basic speed of the car.' The last race in Jeddah had McLaren driver Oscar Piastri emerging as the winner. Max Verstappen took second spot, while Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc won his first podium of the season in third. Piastri is leading the Driver Standings with three wins and 99 points. In second place is his teammate Lando Norris with 89 points, and Max Verstappen is third with 87 points.
