Travel agents assn boycotts sale of tour packages to Turkey & Azerbaijan over support for Pakistan

Indore: The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh chapter, has boycotted the sale of travel packages to Turkey and Azerbaijan in response to these countries supporting Pakistan in the ongoing conflict with India. TAAI has called upon the travel trade across India to refrain from the promotion and sale of tourism to Turkey and Azerbaijan. The body of travel agents has also urged the govt to issue stringent travel advisories against countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan, which are supporting MP and CG chairman Hemendra Singh Jadon said, "We will not sell packages for Turkey and Azerbaijan or any other countries that directly or indirectly align with Pakistan-backed terror networks. These countries thrive on Indian tourism, and it is unacceptable for Indian travellers to fund destinations that do not respect India's security concerns." The association has called on all travel agencies across the country to suspend tourism promotion to these destinations."We urge the govt to immediately issue strong travel advisories against countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan, whose diplomatic posture and associations suggest implicit or explicit support to hostile regimes that promote or harbour terrorism from Pakistan," said Jadon. TAAI also announced formation of a special response team to support its members in the bordering states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, amid rising tensions."We are activating a special response team to provide continuous support, guidance, and assistance to all members facing disruptions or distress. As the nation's apex travel trade body, we reaffirm that we are available 24x7, and we will leave no stone unturned in protecting the interests of our members and the industry at large," said Jadon.
