Appeals panel upholds DQ of Parker Kligerman's team after Daytona Truck race

Corey Heim will remain the winner of the season-opening NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona after an appeal by Henderson Motorsports failed Thursday. Parker Kligerman took the checkered flag first in last week's race but his Henderson Motorsports truck failed inspection after it was found to be too low in the rear. That elevated Heim to race winner. NASCAR issues stiff penalties to Chase Briscoe's team for violation found after Daytona 500 Crew chief James Small has been suspended four races. Dustin Long, Dustin Long, The team's appeal was heard Thursday. The National Motorsports Appeals Panel explained in upholding the penalty: 'The panel confirms it is more likely than not a rules violation did occur and the disqualification penalties in Rule 10.5.2.4 necessitate a race disqualification.' The panel's decision is final. The panel members for the hearing were Bill Mullis, Kevin Whitaker and Tommy Wheeler. Update: Unfortunately we have lost our appeal regarding our disqualification from last week's race in Daytona. While we feel that we had a very strong case, we respect the panel's decision. Parker Kligerman Responds to Stripped NASCAR Truck Win at Daytona

Parker Kligerman was celebrating what he called the biggest win of his career Friday night after being the first to cross the finish line in the Fresh From Florida 250 at Daytona International Speedway, NASCAR Truck race, when things turned south. While celebrating in victory lane with his crew, NASCAR announced that after post-race inspection, Kligerman's truck was too low on both sides near the rear of the vehicle. Truck update: Corey Heim is the winner of the race. Kligerman DQ'd for failing heights. — Bob Pockrass (@bobpockrass) February 15, 2025 This is the second time in six months that Kligerman and his team believed they had a victory before it was taken away. Last October at the Charlotte Roval, Kligerman was leading before the white flag, and his crew thought the yellow flag was thrown after he crossed. Instead, it was seconds before triggering a green-white-checker final start. Saturday morning, before his broadcast duties began for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Kligerman took to X to explain that he would be focused on the work ahead of him and will not be commenting on the stripped win as he and Henderson Motorsports would present a "very valid case" to NASCAR for their truck height in due time. I will not be commenting any further until we are able to present what I believe is a very, very valid case," Kligerman said. "Until then, I'm fully focused on my job with [The CW] and [NASCAR Xfinity] because the drivers and teams deserve the full focus on the massive stage ahead of them." Biggest win of my life. Thank you all for the wonderful messages. NASCAR Truck Series: Why Daytona winner Parker Kligerman was disqualified

DAYTONA BEACH — Corey Heim still plans to celebrate this weekend. 'We won, right?' he said late Friday night. 'Wouldn't you celebrate?' But it may not possess the same excitement as his first 11 NASCAR Truck Series victories. Buy our Daytona 500 book Heim originally placed second in the Fresh From Florida 250 at Daytona International Speedway. He had retreated back to his hauler after the race, as winner Parker Kligerman partied in Victory Lane and smiled through his corresponding press conference. Then, Kligerman got disqualified. He failed post-race inspections. His No. 75 Henderson Motorsports machine sat too low in the rear on both sides. The result? Heim rose to the No. 1 spot on the leaderboard. "It's certainly not as thrilling as winning the race on the racetrack," the 22-year-old said after suddenly being pulled in for a victory media session. "But I don't know. I've been on the wrong side of it several times in my late-model career. It's cool to kind of get a big win like that, I guess." Kligerman and Heim fronted the pack before a last-lap wreck captured several cars and brought out a yellow flag. Kligerman led when the caution arrived. "Biggest win of my entire life," he yelled moments after getting out of his truck. More than an hour later, Heim was declared the victor. Kligerman's ride was the only one in the field to flunk inspection. Henderson Motorsports announced on social media that it will appeal the decision. OFFICIAL UPDATE: We've decided to appeal the disqualification of our #75 Truck from yesterday evening's NCTS Race at Daytona.#NASCAR #Henderson75 — Henderson Motorsports (@HendersonTrucks) February 15, 2025 This article originally appeared on The Daytona Beach News-Journal: NASCAR Truck Series: Parker Kligerman DQ'd at Daytona. Parker Kligerman wins Daytona Truck race

NBC Sports broadcaster Parker Kligerman took the lead on the backstretch of the final lap to win Friday night's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway. Kligerman, who is running a part-time Truck schedule with Henderson Motorsports, collected his fourth career series win. It is his first victory since July 2022 when he won at Mid-Ohio. Kligerman called Friday night's win the biggest of his career. 'God, I love this place,' he said on the FS1 broadcast. 'I love racing. I love winning. 'I'm ready for the next chapter of my life, but this one means a lot.' Corey Heim finished second. Eighteen-year-old Gio Ruggiero, making his first series start, placed third. 'Nothing short of crazy there the last 20 laps,' Heim told FS1. 'Honestly, pretty impressed with everyone that we kept it straight for as long as we did. They piled it up a little bit on the last lap. Compared to last year, it was such a big upgrade as far as the quality of racing.'
