Which 10 players have had the most receiving yards in a season in NFL history?
The NFL has delivered some unforgettable moments over the years and even more so since the boom of the passing attacks. That has opened up the field for offenses to this day and has allowed us to see some incredible performances that lasted a whole season. Pairing a great quarterback with a dynamic receiver, even today, is a ticket to a top-15 offense and more if you can surround them with the right talent to complement their talents. That said, though, a top-tier receiver season is hard to come by. Here are the 10 players with the most receiving yards in a single season. 10 players with the most receiving yards in a season in NFL history 10. Charley Hennigan: 1,746 yards (1961) One of the lesser-talked-about names on this list, Hennigan had a shorter career but still managed to put up big numbers in a couple of seasons. His best season came in 1961 when he racked up 1,746 receiving yards. That earned him Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro nods. That season, Hennigan's 1,746 receiving yards for the Houston Oilers were 570 receiving yards more than the next closest player in the AFL. He was also one of just two AFL players to grab 10 or more receiving touchdowns, hauling in 12 on the season. 9. CeeDee Lamb: 1,749 yards (2023) Lamb finished just 50 yards shy of Tyreek Hill in 2023 for the receiving yards crown. For his troubles, he was named a Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro selection. His 1,749 receiving yards, though, was not all he did. He also led the league with 135 receptions, 16 more than any other player, while also garnering enough votes to finish third in AP Offensive Player of the Year voting. That performance propelled Dallas to a 12-5 mark and an NFC East division title. 8. Isaac Bruce: 1,781 yards (1995) Despite a mediocre season by the Rams in 1995, Bruce was anything but mediocre. Even with his electric season, finishing second in the NFL with 1,781 receiving yards, the voters didn't award him a Pro Bowl nod, nor did they vote him on either of the All-Pro teams. He also finished with 119 receptions, which was the fourth most in the league that year. No doubt, the 7-9 record by St. Louis factored into the snub, but Bruce was dominant despite playing for a team that was ranked 22nd in points per game. 7. Tyreek Hill: 1,799 yards (2023) The Cheetah showed out in 2023, besting the previously mentioned Lamb by 50 yards for the most in the league. Hill also led the league with 13 receiving touchdowns and averaged a league-high 112.4 receiving yards per game. Those numbers, along with helping Miami post the second-most points per game (29.2), lifted the speedster to a Pro Bowl berth, first-team All-Pro nod and runner-up for AP Offensive Player of the Year. 6. Justin Jefferson: 1,809 yards (2022) On pace to be one of the best receivers of the century, Jefferson showed out in 2022, posting the most receptions (128) and receiving yards in the league. His performance no doubt lifted a sagging Minnesota offense that, even with the contributions of Jefferson, barely cracked the top 10 in points per game. The voters felt the impact and awarded Jefferson a Pro Bowl spot, a first-team All-Pro nod and helped him win the AP Offensive Player of the Year award. 5. Antonio Brown: 1,834 yards (2015) Two of the most unbelievable seasons by receivers came in 2015 (more on the other one later), but Brown put on a show for the Steelers. He tied for the league lead with 136 receptions and finished just 37 yards away from leading the league in receiving yards. Moreover, he was also one of the top weapons for one of the best offenses in the sport, with Pittsburgh putting up 26.4 points per game, the fourth-most in the NFL. 4. Jerry Rice: 1,848 yards (1995) Of course, this list would have to include Rice! He had a number of amazing seasons, but the 1995 campaign was the one with the most receiving yards, leading the NFL with 1,848 yards. His 115.5 receiving yards per game were over four yards per game more than the next closest player. Along with being a first-team All-Pro and being picked for the Pro Bowl, he also finished runner-up for the MVP award for his role on the league's top scoring offense (28.6 PPG). 3. Julio Jones: 1,871 yards (2015) The other top receiver from 2015! Jones dominated in 2015 but was undoubtedly held back by a mediocre Atlanta offense that was just 21st in the NFL in points per game (21.2). Still, Jones did his best to jump start the "O", tying for the league lead in receptions (136) and leading with 1,871 yards. He earned a Pro Bowl and All-Pro first team despite the team's limited success. 2. Cooper Kupp: 1,947 yards (2021) A rare receiving triple crown sighting on the list. Kupp literally did it all for the Rams in 2021, leading the NFL with 145 receptions, 1,947 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns. That performance, and deservedly so, allowed him to clean up on the awards, getting a spot in the Pro Bowl, a first-team All-Pro nod and earning Offensive Player of the Year. He would also eventually help lead the team to a Super Bowl victory. 1. Calvin Johnson: 1,964 yards (2012) This list would feel incomplete if Megatron wasn't on it, and he claimed the top spot for his unreal 2012 campaign. Johnson didn't win the receiving triple crown like Kupp did, but that had more to do with his team than his performance. He led the NFL with 122 receptions and his 1,964 yards were nearly 400 more than anyone else. Moreover, he averaged 122.8 receiving yards per game, while no one else averaged even 100 per game. A first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler, Johnson finished third in Offensive Player of the Year. Check out all of our Daily Rankers . Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Scott County officials prepare for looming severe weather and flood risks
SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — It's the calm before the storm as Kentucky braces for another round of potentially severe storms late Wednesday night into Thursday. As emergency managers prepare for this latest round of storms, flash flooding is a major concern, especially in Scott County. In February, 65-year-old Paul Joseph Licato died after his truck was swept off the road by rising water. That is one of the reasons why emergency management officials are urging people to remain home during the storm and use caution once everything subsides. PAWS Program at Kentucky Children's Hospital helps balance in schoolwork with treatment Scott County officials prepare for looming severe weather and flood risks Central Kentucky thrifter scores big again with autograph by another MLB legend EMA Director Michael Hennigan said the county is planning on responding to any flash floods first, given the dangers of how quickly the water rises and then recedes. Then, they will look at some of the longer-term flooding where the water stays for a while. 'We're being very careful with our warnings,' Hennigan said. 'Making sure that the signs are, incredibly, noticeable and then, if necessary, upgrading to barricades and other things so that we can try to protect the motorists as best we can. From that point, we have interactive maps that allow us to show one inch of rain will do this to the county, two inches, so forth and so on.' Hennigan said rural areas, particularly out near Sadieville and on the outskirts of Georgetown, are of even greater concern regarding this storm, and they will be monitoring things closely to keep the community informed. Read more of the latest Lexington & central Kentucky news Especially along Elkhorn Creek and other bodies of water are at higher risks of flooding, Hennigan said. Right now, Hennigan said the county could get 5-7 inches of rain during the course of the storm. He said there are plans in place for every possible scenario and first responders will be able to help at a moment's notice. 'We've been doing it too long, and we've seen water come up so many times that we just kind of have a bad rhythm that we fall into,' Hennigan explained. 'But when they first start talking about the we're going to have a possibility of a certain number of inches of rain. We know that we need to start taking steps, and we get the right people on board early on so that we don't have to react and do stuff to it in the spur of the moment.' Latest central Kentucky weather forecast Now, when it comes to evacuating homes, Hennigan said people should be smart; residents know where they live better than officials so if you feel you're not safe where you are, find a place to stay for a little while and ride out the storm. They've had enough of the political turmoil. A growing number of Americans are applying for dual citizenship.
Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up The couple are among the growing number of Americans seeking dual citizenship through ancestry or golden visa programs. Rules vary by country, but a golden visa allows individuals to qualify for residency or citizenship in exchange for an investment in real estate. They obtained ancestry through Hennigan's Irish roots. Google searches in the United States for dual citizenship Advertisement Because obtaining dual citizenship can be time-consuming and expensive, it's been primarily limited to people with free time or disposable income. Those going the golden visa route must spend hundreds of thousands of dollars depending on their country of choice. Even those who get dual citizenship through ancestry often report spending a few thousand dollars for help with research or hiring experts to assist in navigating the maze of paperwork required. At Advertisement 'A big portion of our business since November has been Americans, and we didn't even look at the US as a market for us until 2023,' said Denis Kravchenko, business development director of Astons. 'One of my American clients who is in the process of obtaining a golden visa from Portugal told me, 'I'm afraid that a civil war might emerge. Can we speed up the process so I have a place to go?' These are the kinds of things we never heard before.' At 'Most of the time, people who come to us are looking for dual citizenship because they want to honor their ancestors,' said Sarah Dery, director of research and library services. 'But it seems that the turmoil in the current government is adding to that fire. For me, I've always had it in the back of my mind that it would be really interesting to get dual citizenship, but since January, I've had the urge to look into it more.' Because there is no central database tracking Americans pursuing dual citizenship and no government agency overseeing or collecting information on citizens with dual citizenship, there are no exact numbers of US residents holding two passports. Americans are allowed to hold dual citizenship in 63 countries, each with its own rules for citizenship and residency. The Advertisement 'Some of these people are mixed-race couples or same-sex couples that perceive a threat to their future in the US,' he said. 'In the past, I would maybe hear from one or two people a month about dual citizenship. Now it's about four or five a week.' Hennigan and Atlas began looking into Irish citizenship during the first Trump administration. Rich Welch, a biotech executive in Somerville, started working on his Italian citizenship three years ago with plans to retire to Europe when he's ready. His college-age sons will also become Italian citizens, allowing them to study and work in Europe. For Welch, dual citizenship wasn't about escaping political turmoil, but he said he's thankful he has a Plan B. You hear the phrase 'Plan B' often when talking to people about dual citizenship. If obtaining dual citizenship was a distant goal, it was moved to the front burner after Nov. 5 and offers an assurance for those who are concerned about political instability in the United States. Mike Yepes, an administrative manager at Boston Medical Center, is exploring dual citizenship to make travel between the United States and Colombia easier. He anticipates making the trip more frequently to care for aging family members living in Advertisement 'I don't think anyone has ever complained about having two passports,' he said. 'If the situation in the US becomes difficult, there's an option for me.' While the second Trump administration has driven interest in dual citizenship, it was COVID-19 that brought it to the forefront of people's minds. Suddenly, work for many no longer meant being tethered to an office. 'Lots of people ended up with jobs they could take with them anywhere,' said Jennifer Stevens, executive editor of International Living magazine. 'So during COVID, people were often going to Mexico for six months or Costa Rica for six months, or Panama for six months on a tourist visa. For the people who really liked the lifestyle, the next step was exploring something more permanent.' Stevens said she heard stories of people looking into a second passport during Trump's first term but said more people are now taking the next step and doing more research. 'This is me editorializing, but I think this time it feels different,' she said. 'I think we are seeing the beginning of a bigger trend of people exploring their options. People want a Plan B in place if things go south for them.' Not everyone is on board with fleeing the United States until Trump is out of office. Even TV host Bill Maher, a moderate Democrat, 'Maybe the problem isn't that America isn't worth defending,' Maher said. 'Maybe the problem is that lots of people today are entitled whiners with no perspective and no idea how good they have it.' Advertisement But dissenters have yet to slow the tide of interest in dual residency. Irish broadcaster RTÉ reported that Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs Considering asylum in Canada? Watch this first! Obtaining dual residency through investment, popularly known as a golden visa, can be quicker than the ancestry route, but it requires large sums of cash to invest in either real estate or business, depending on the country. Citizenship for Malta requires a donation of $820,000 to the country's National Development and Social Fund. Americans looking for a coveted EU passport are currently buying real estate in Portugal and Greece. Spain is phasing out its golden visa program next month due to concerns that the influx of new arrivals was driving up housing prices. Basil Mohr-Elzeki of the migration investment firm Henley & Partners, which helps people obtain golden visas in countries around the world, said the number of inquiries from Americans has quadrupled since 2018. 'If I were to estimate, I would say that 80 percent of the inquiries are politically, emotionally driven,' he said. 'The other 20 percent is for retirement, lifestyle, or people looking for fewer travel restrictions.' But as demand for second citizenship increases, so does the wait time for consulate appointments. The Trump administration's 'If you need to obtain immigration records from the National Archives, it's challenging,' said Dery of American Ancestors. 'They don't have a staff anymore, so that wait time, where it may have been six to eight weeks before, is now much longer, which is unfortunate, particularly for genealogists and people that are trying to get dual citizenship or apply to a lineage society. Obtaining these vital records from government officials is an important part of our everyday job.' Christopher Muther can be reached at
