Sky drops Google Pixel 9 to 'lowest price' amid huge Android update news
Sky is giving shoppers their cheapest price for the Google phone just as the new Android 16 software is being showcased. While Google is hosting their annual I/O conference in California this week, Sky has made the bold move of dropping the Google Pixel 9 down to their "lowest price". Android fans have waited in anticipation for the I/O conference, as it showcases exciting product launches, innovations and insights. However this year, fans of the event were delighted to hear that the tech giant is making some major updates on future Google Gemini and Android software. Google went as far to reveal some interesting new features for Android 16, which is the upcoming software that powers Google smartphones. One key update will actually change how Pixel phones look and operate with the 'Material 3 Expressive', reports the Express. Google claims this change will make using the phone feel more fluid and personal with "springy animations" and dynamic customisable colour themes. With Android 16 set to be rolled out to Google Pixel smartphones in June, some mobile providers have made the move to drop the prices of several models so users can experience the latest upgrade in Android software for a bargain price. One key brand in this move is Sky Mobile, who have placed several phones in the Google Pixel 9 series on special deals. They have even said "our lowest price is back" as they drop the price of the original Pixel 9 down to £24 a month. On top of this, the provider is giving new customers six months of Google One Premium 2 TB plan and Fitbit premium, as well as three months of Youtube Premium. However, the fine print is that customers will need to enter a 36-month contract with Sky. Google Pixel 9 £24 per month Sky Buy Now Product Description This price will also boost a bit more once shoppers have added a data plan on top, which ranges from £0 for 100MB to £20 for unlimited - now making the package £44 per month if shoppers want access to endless data. It should also be noted that this is not the cheapest way long term to buy the Pixel 9 smartphone, as Amazon has cut the full price of the phone down to £561.96 from a whopping £799 - saving shoppers over £230. In comparison to Sky's basic monthly deal without the added data, Amazon's current deal works out to be £302 cheaper over the lifespan of the plan. Sky is also holding other deals in the Pixel 9 series, including dropping the Pixel 9 Pro to £27 per month and the Pixel 9 Pro XL to a monthly cost of £34. However, the best deal is on the newest addition to the series - the Pixel 9a - which is priced at only £18 a month. The Pixel 9a was designed to be the more budget friendly version of the standard Pixel 9, and was described by deputy tech editor Henry Burrell as the "best A-series phone yet". However, for those who are interested in Pixel 9, it currently boasts a 4.4 star rating on Amazon, with one shopper dubbing it as "virtually flawless". One happy shopper said: "The picture quality is top shelf, quality is perfect, functionality is fluid, it meets the value for money, possesses lightning speed and size is portable." Another added: "Incredible AI tech, especially in the photo editing department. Tensor 4 chip is more than snappy enough and along with 12gb RAM and 120hz display keeps everything buttery smooth. Guaranteed SEVEN years of OS and security updates. Plus it looks gorgeous and feels super premium in the hand. Google's best Pixel phone to date. What's not to like?" However, another shopper wasn't as impressed, as they wrote: "Battery life [is] good, size is all right but the bezels are quite big. It's a decent price but one issue is the Bluetooth keeps reconnecting randomly which is frustrating as someone that uses Bluetooth earphones all the time." Despite this, a third five-star reviewer detailed: "This phone has been virtually flawless. It has a solid construction similar to an iPhone and a clean clutter free OS with no bloatware. "This is a lot of phone for your money, even sporting a 120mhz display. One plus is having both a fingerprint scanner and a Face ID equivalent. It does have a plastic back, but it feels premium, and a lot of phone for the money." A further shopper also praised: "The perfect size at 6.3' and all the benefits of Pixel in a cheaper package. Great display, bigger battery, good cameras, smooth and responsive." For those wanting to snap up Sky Mobile's deal on the Pixel 9, click HERE. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Samsung Galaxy S25 falls to record low as new Edge model drops
Samsung has launched its Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone but is tempting customers to stick with the current models in a surprise sale Samsung has cut hundreds of pounds off the Samsung S25 following the announcement of a new edition to its smartphone range. On Tuesday, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, a slimmer version of its standard S25, which is described as an 'engineering marvel' - now its previous model is on sale. The sleek S25 Edge, which measures at just 5.8mm thick, is available to pre-order from Samsung or Sky Mobile, but at an eye-watering £1,000+ price. Those looking for a more affordable option may want to look at the usual S25 as it's cut by £200. While all eyes are on the new model, Samsung has quietly been cutting the cost of the rest of its Galaxy S25 range. The retailer is now offering the Galaxy S25 128GB for £599, with the 256GB model costing £659. This marks a rare occasion where both models are cheaper than Amazon and Argos' prices and a new record low on the standard S25. There's also £150 off the Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB, which now comes in at £1,099 from Samsung, Argos and Amazon. However, this is the same price as the new Galaxy S25 Edge, which is worth keeping in mind for those who like getting their hands on the latest model. As a brand-new model, the S25 Edge comes with a hefty price tag of £1,099 outright or £40 when spreading the cost. However, Samsung and Sky are sweetening the deal by offering the 512GB model for the price of 256GB, while Sky is throwing in a free pair of Galaxy Buds3 Pro worth £219. The Daily Express' Deputy Technology Editor Henry Burrell got his hands on the S25 Edge and hailed it as an 'impressively slender piece of kit'. On the 1.4mm size difference between the Edge and the standard S25, Henry said: 'Millimetre differences don't sound like much on paper, but they make a huge difference to how this phone feels to hold. The S25 Edge is impressively thin and certainly awoke my inner nerd. 'But what struck me more was just how light the S25 Edge is. It weighs 163g, just one gram more than the S25, and less than the 190g S25 Plus and 218g S25 Ultra. The iPhone 16 is 7.8mm thick and weighs 190g. 'The S25's dimensions, combined with its weight, make it feel truly feather-light.' However, Henry did point out some reservations, adding: 'With a large QHD 6.7-inch display, very similar to the one on the S25 Plus, the S25 Edge is a little hard to hold in one hand. Though it's amazing Samsung has crammed all the componentry into the shrunken body, one thing it can't slim down is the cameras. 'The dual rear lenses poke out the top right corner of the phone, causing it to tip the device a little unless you're holding on with two paws.'

Samsung Galaxy S25 falls to new low in £200 drop that Amazon and Argos can't beat
'The S25 Edge is impressively thin and certainly awoke my inner nerd' Samsung has reduced the Galaxy S25 to a new low price in a surprise sale. The tech giant has just shaved £200 off all models of the standard S25, from the 128GB to 512GB editions. The Galaxy S25 128GB has fallen to £599, making Samsung the cheapest place to buy compared to Amazon and Argos as it beats their £699 asking price. Those opting for more storage can now pick up the S25 256GB for £659, or the S25 512GB for £759. According to Amazon price tracker camelcamelcamel, £699 was the cheapest price ever offered for the S25 until Samsung's latest deal. It comes as Samsung has started taking pre-orders for its new Galaxy S25 Edge, an ultra-slim version of the S25 measuring 5.8mm thin. Described by Samsung as an 'engineering marvel', the Edge also boasts a 200MP camera and tough Gorilla Glass on both the front and back, as well as an IP68 water-resistance rating. There are also countless Galaxy AI features and Samsung's 'most powerful' processor, but it also comes with a whopping £1,099 price tag. Shoppers who like to get their hands on the latest model can spread the costs with the likes of Sky Mobile, which is offering the Edge for £40. Both Sky and Samsung are giving customers 512GB storage for the price of 256GB, with Sky also throwing in a free pair of Galaxy Buds3 Pro worth £219 for good measure. While the S25 Edge is only 1.4mm thinner than the standard S25, Henry Burrell, the Daily Express' Deputy Technology Editor, said it makes a 'huge difference' to how the phone feels. He said: 'Millimetre differences don't sound like much on paper, but they make a huge difference to how this phone feels to hold. 'The S25 Edge is impressively thin and certainly awoke my inner nerd, but what struck me more was just how light the S25 Edge is. It weighs 163g, just one gram more than the S25, and less than the 190g S25 Plus and 218g S25 Ultra. The S25's dimensions, combined with its weight, make it feel truly feather-light.' However, Henry also pointed out a potential flaw of the S25 Edge, adding: 'With a large QHD 6.7-inch display, very similar to the one on the S25 Plus, the S25 Edge is a little hard to hold in one hand. Though it's amazing Samsung has crammed all the componentry into the shrunken body, one thing it can't slim down is the cameras. 'The dual rear lenses poke out the top right corner of the phone, causing it to tip the device a little unless you're holding on with two paws.'
