TN man risks life to save boy from electrocution on flooded street, video wins praise

Netizens have been praising the brave act of a man in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, after a chilling incident caught on CCTV went viral recently. In the clip, a young schoolboy is seen suffering an electric shock on a flooded street. Just as the boy collapsed, Kannan Tamizhselvan, 24, happened to be passing by on his motorcycle. Without hesitation, he stopped and dragged the boy out of the water. According to India Today, the Class 3 student was walking home through the stagnant rainwater. As he approached a junction box, he accidentally stepped on an exposed live wire, causing him to collapse in the water. The boy then lay there, unable to move. 'It was raining heavily and there was water stagnation. I was on my way when I saw him fall down. I thought he might have slipped, but as I went closer, I saw his limbs move rapidly and realised he was being electrocuted,' India Today quoted Tamizhselvan as having said. Sharing the video, an X user wrote, 'Salute to this 24 year old Kannan Tamizhselvan, who rushed to save the boy who fell into water aftre being electrocuted by a leak in underground power cables in Chennai.'
