This England: With a couple of kookies…
A portrait of David Bowie took the artist Ed Chapman 180 hours to make – out of biscuits. The mosaicist created images of the 'Heroes' singer for McVitie's, which is celebrating 100 years of the Chocolate Digestive. He used more than 1,000 of the treats to fashion the faces of icons including Trevor McDonald and Judi Dench out of whole biscuits, fragments and crumbs. His works go on show 2-5 May at McVitie's Chocolate Digestives Experience in Regent Street, London. Wales Online (Amanda Welles) Suite oblivion A sofa dumped in a Gloucestershire village has become an unexpected tourist attraction – with fans taking photos and giving Tripadvisor reviews. The two-seater was abandoned on waste ground in Lydbrook, but photographer Alex Elton-Wall saw potential in the forlorn furniture – and has since taken the portraits of more than 150 locals. 'It's taken on a life of its own,' Alex said, but he expects the fly-tipped seat will soon be disposed of properly. 'All good things come to an end,' he said. Metro (Daragh Brady) Forced to eat crow The owner of a cockerel that awoke neighbours early has been ordered to pay nearly £4,000. Harold Brown let the bird make 'unacceptable levels of noise' disturbing their sleep 'from as early as 5am each day,' said New Forest District Council. Mr Brown's bid to quash a conviction for non-compliance was dismissed at Southampton Crown Court. BBC (Michael Meadowcroft) Each entry that appears in the New Statesman receives a £5 book token. Hayden Panettiere explains four-year absence: 'I desperately needed it...'
Hayden Panettiere "desperately needed" to take time out of work. The 35-year-old actress rose to fame as a teenager when she starred on the superhero series 'Heroes' and remained on screen consistently for a number of years but as she returns to the spotlight in new film 'A Breed Apart', admitted that her time away meant she could explore new things upon her comeback. She told UsWeekly: "I had taken four years off. Didn't know or plan to, but that's just the way it panned out. "And I desperately needed it. "It happened organically. The things that I've done before … it was just different enough that I felt like it was a blank canvas that I could paint onto anything I wanted on. "And now try to take my career in a direction that I wasn't able to go in before." Hayden now feels "much more solid and grounded" within her career and wants to continue "evolving" as time goes on. She said: "I feel much more solid and grounded in this world, the crazy world that we live in. "It's healthy to continue to keep evolving as a person. Which I always try to do to keep reinventing ourselves and learning more things about ourselves and our wants and needs and dislikes and all the above. "But I've never been this version of me, I've never been as OK with being who I am without feeling the need to apologize for anything. I feel like I've finally earned the right to an opinion." The 'Scream' star also admitted that when it comes to new new role in the upcoming thriller, it was the chance to be "physical" on screen that made her want to commit to the project, She said: "The biggest thing that drew me to this character was the action part of it. It's fun. You get to be physical. I get to use my athleticism. "And also working with cameras and at the same time, and it's just like this perfect dance that has to be created. It adds a whole other element to what we do."

Actress Hayden Panettiere's childhood New York home on market for nearly $4 million
The New York childhood home of actress Hayden Panettiere, who was in the 'Heroes' TV series, the 'Scream' horror movie franchise and the series 'Nashville,' is listed for sale at nearly $4 million in the affluent Snedens Landing area of Rockland County. The 129 Washington Spring Road house, built in 1988, was renovated by the current owners after they bought it in 2021, a news release about the listing said. Panettiere lived in the home from about 1998 to 2013. For her role as Juliette Barnes in the series "Nashville," which ran from 2012 to 2018, she received two Golden Globe nominations for best supporting actress — series, miniseries or television film. Richard Ellis, of Ellis Sotheby's International Realty Nyack, has the listing. Ellis said in the release that the current owners "spared no expense in the extensive improvements to the 3,500-square-foot turnkey home, which can be purchased completely furnished for a fee." The four-bedroom, four-bathroom home has a mansard roof, covered porch, crank-out casement windows with arched tops, and barrel-shaped dormers. It has a two-car garage and ivy growing on stucco walls, according to the release. It's nicknamed the French Ivy House. Interior renovations include quarter-sawn oak floors and large slab Italian marble floors, kitchen and butler pantry with cabinetry and marble counter tops. The kitchen has Sub-Zero appliances, according to the release. The dining room has hand-painted murals on silver-leaf paper, as well as silk wallpaper. There are two gas fireplaces and marble bathrooms. Famous listings: 'Breaking Bad' Albuquerque home is up for sale for $4 million "The home's renovation exemplifies how thoughtful design can breathe new life into a charming gem while adapting it for modern living," Ellis said in the release. "The home feels like it was built in a different time, with a fun layout, two staircases and lots of nooks and crannies. In addition to its timeless elegance characteristic of a European chateau, the home is in the exclusive neighborhood of Snedens Landing, which is well known for its rustic seclusion, connection to the arts and proximity to New York City." Among exterior improvements are a new roof, fresh stucco, bluestone walkways, stone walls and patio, a gas firepit, barbecue, and an extensive lighting system. A secondary wing has a separate entrance that could be used for a home office or extended family. Snedens Landing, in the Palisades hamlet, has long attracted celebrities to own homes there, including, The Journal News/lohud has reported, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Ethan Hawke, Laurence Olivier, Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman and John Steinbeck. Mary Lawrence Tonetti, a sculptor, was a key figure in making Snedens Landing into an artist's colony during the last century. Tonetti built her early 20th century Colonial in 1930 overlooking the Hudson River. During the Revolutionary War, Gen. George Washington was believed to have dined in 1780 at The Meeting House — a Snedens Landing property that was listed for sale in 2023 — with the Marquis de Lafayette and Baron von Steuben.
