Bahrain's 3x3 Basketball Teams Set for FIBA Asia Cup Challenge in Singapore
While the official rosters have yet to be confirmed, Bahrain's women's side will be hoping to build on past success, having claimed bronze at the 2022 Gulf Games. Players such as Hessa Al-Jaber, Bayan Salman, Seema Hassan, and Aisha Al-Hadi could feature. Preparations have been bolstered by coaching support from Bahraini coach Murteza Mohammed and Serbian specialist Bogdan Dragovic, a veteran of the 3x3 World Tour. Their expertise could prove valuable as Bahrain faces strong opposition, with Australia and Mongolia among the tournament favourites.
Bayan Salman, speaking to TDT before the tournament, expressed confidence in the squad's potential. "I have full faith in my team. I believe we have what it takes to make some more history. We have very talented players on the roster with great chemistry. We will be focusing on one game at a time and listening to the coaches' plans and tactics."
She also highlighted the impact of the coaching staff, praising their approach. "Coach Murteza is leading us with passion as always, and Coach Dragovic is adding a lot of experience and new things that we are learning in the game of 3x3. These two coaches complement each other very well, and we are grateful to have them with us."
The Road Ahead
Matches will be held at OCBC Square within the Singapore Sports Hub, with the early rounds on 26 and 27 March open to spectators free of charge. Later stages will see teams battle it out for a place in the knockout rounds.
For Bahrain, the challenge is significant, but the opportunity is just as great. A strong showing in Singapore could boost their international standing and inspire a new wave of talent back home.
