‘Always by your side': Spurs star shares touching Ange text after sacking
Tottenham star Yves Bissouma has shared a touching message he received from Ange Postecoglou after his sacking as Spurs boss, shedding fresh light on how close the Australian was with his players. Postecoglou was axed by the north London club last Friday and the likes of captain Heung-Min Son, Richarlison, James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven and Lucas Bergvall all gave heartfelt messages of thanks. But Bissouma also shared a heartwarming text exchange between himself and Postecoglou to his social media. 'Hi Biss. Sorry I missed your call,' the message read. 'I am very proud of you. It was an honour to share a dressing room with you and appreciate how much you believed in what we were trying to achieve. 'I wish you only the best for the future. I will always be following. Much love from my family to yours.' Bissouma replied: 'Thank you gaffer and thank you really much for everything you did for me on and off the pitch, I'll always be grateful.' The midfielder gave thanks for 'the way you believed me and trusted me' as he wished Postecoglou 'all the best for the future'. Postecoglou concluded: 'Always by your side Biss.' Bissouma joined Tottenham from Brighton for an initial £25 million in June 2022, under former manager Antonio Conte, playing 28 games in his debut season but making just 12 starts. Although the defensive midfielder made 28 total appearances in his debut campaign with the club, only 12 of those were starts. He started 26 league games in his first season under Ange, then made 44 appearances across all competitions last season. He started in the Europa League final, with Tottenham 1-0 winners over Manchester United in Bilbao. The win ended Tottenham's infamous 17-year trophy drought, while Postecoglou was proven right after declaring that he always won things in his second season. The Australian is poised to be replaced by Brentford boss Thomas Frank, who took Brentford to a tenth-place finish in 2024/25. Frank has a long-standing relationship with Spurs' technical director Johan Lange.

The Hoddle of Coffee: Tottenham Hotspur News and Links for Wednesday, May 21
The day is HERE! We all awake this morning with optimism pouring through our veins, but the permanent self-doubt lingering in the back of our minds. Nevertheless, in just a few hours Tottenham Hotspur will be playing in the Europa League final. HUZZAH! Advertisement It's hard to believe we are even here, considering how this season has gone. Your hoddler-in-chief sure as heck did not anticipate this back in December. How glad I am to be wrong. Of course I want Spurs to win this for the sake of winning it. We need this. But I want to point to two particular players in particular who I especially want to see lift the trophy: Heung-min Son: Our beloved captain has made no secret he is tying his success at the club to winning a trophy. I disagree with this, but I am in no position to get into his brain. Son has stepped up bravely since the departures of Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane. One of the most striking memories I have of his captainship is that first away game last season, where he brought the players to huddle before the Spurs away end. He's given us so many great moments. Let's have another one. Ben Davies: The Welshman has been at this club for a decade. Gentle Ben has been a steady presence in the squad for 10 years, always coming in to play whichever position he's called ot. Whether that be his more natural left back, a centre back, or at times a bit further up the pitch, the man's always put in a hell of an effort. Davies is out of contract this summer and there's no talks of it being renewed. If this is his penultimate match with the club, please let him lift the torphy. Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou reveals potential triple Spurs injury blow for Brighton finale
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Cristian Romero and Heung-min Son will both miss Sunday's Premier League season finale against Brighton. The Australian revealed that Romero has been struggling with a toe injury for some time, while captain Son has a foot issue. Both played through their injuries to appear in Wednesday night's Europa League final win over Manchester United in Bilbao. Postecoglou told reporters on Saturday: 'Romero has been struggling with his toe for some time so we'll leave him out, and Sonny as well.' The Spurs boss added that midfielder Yves Bissouma would face a late fitness test after picking up a knock in the final in midweek. 'Bissouma got a knock in the game, so he's kinda 50/50 at the moment,' Postecoglou said. 'The rest of them, physically anyway, are okay.' Postecoglou also confirmed that Mathys Tel would likely feature against Brighton, though talks have not yet taken place to determine the Bayern Munich loanee's long-term future. Lucas Bergvall flew to Bilbao with the Spurs squad ahead of the Europa League final earlier this week but was ruled out ahead of the match. He is not expected to be involved on Sunday, either. Dejan Kulusevski remains absent, having undergone surgery on his knee earlier this month. Postecoglou is unsure whether he will be ready in time for the start of next season, saying he had 'only basic information' about his recovery. James Maddison had previously been ruled out for the season after suffering a knee injury in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final tie against Bodo/Glimt, with Radu Dragusin also a long-term absentee for Tottenham after undergoing a knee operation in February.
