Man who allegedly fled traffic stop in NY stopped in CT with passenger he was barred from contacting
A man who allegedly fled a traffic stop in New York on Tuesday was arrested in Connecticut when state troopers boxed his vehicle in on Interstate 95 and found that he had a protective order barring him from contacting a passenger in the vehicle.
State troopers learned of the traffic stop at 6 p.m. when they were alerted by New York State Police and the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center that the driver of a black Acura TLX fled from authorities on Interstate 95 North in New York, according to Connecticut State Police. The report indicated the vehicle was last seen heading into Connecticut.
Troopers located the Acura on I-95 North in Greenwich where they were able to box it in and stop it, state police said. The driver was identified as 23-year-old Heury Aponte of Bridgeport, according to state police.
Troopers found that a protective order forbids Aponte from having any contact with a passenger who was in the Acura, state police said. He was arrested and transported to Troop G in Bridgeport where he was charged with violation of protective order, improper use of a registration plate and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
Aponte was released after posting a $20,000 bond and was expected to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
