WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – It's time to crown a district champion. This Saturday, Warren JFK hosts Cardinal in a Division 7 Northeast 1 District Final as WKBN's High School Basketball Game of the Week cameras will be on hand to catch all of the action, live on MyYTV at 1 p.m. The Eagles are seeking their first district championship. Will they reach the regionals this Saturday? The Huskies, the 7th seed, reached this point in the season by downing Bristol (37-23) and Lowellville (46-32). -Since JFK suffered three straight losses to Rootstown, Cleveland Central Catholic and West Branch – they've won their last 3 games; outscoring their foes on average by 49 points. -Junior Gianna Pompelia has scored in double-figures in each of her 22 outings this year; topping the 20-point mark nine times. She just scored a season-high 29 against Mathews. She's made multiple 3-point baskets in 13 games. No. 2 is averaging 18.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3 steals per game. -Hannah Myers (6.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg), Laney Condoleon (6.0 ppg), Aniyah Johnson (3.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg), Addy Odilille (5.3 ppg, 6.6 rpg) and freshman Riley Lawrence (2.8 ppg, 2.9 rpg) have contributed as well for the Eagles without one of their leaders, Didi Ryan (17.9 ppg, 4 apg), in the lineup. Karli Sampson connected on a game-winning 3-point shot with 2 seconds remaining in the Canton South win. It was her lone field goal of the day. Reese Davidson-Chuck led all Quakers with 24 points while Abby Knickerbocker posted 11. The Quakers recorded an even 6-6 mark away from John A. Cabas Gymnasium this year. Reese Davidson-Chuck finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals in Salem's 56-34 victory over Struthers on Saturday in their playoff opener.
