Oman: Infrastructure upgrade continues in Jabal Al Akdhar to promote tourism
Al Jabal Al Akdhar: Various development projects are being implemented in the Wilayat of Jabal Al Akhdar in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, with the prime aim of upgrading the infrastructure and promoting the tourism and service sectors. Worth over OMR4.5 million, the projects include improving the road network, constructing recreational facilities and enhancing public services. Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah affirmed that the projects and strategic plans in the Wilayat of Jabal Al Akhdar aim at boosting the role of the region as a promising tourist and investment destination. He explained that construction work of the ongoing projects is progressing steadily according to the schedule. The completion rate of the Green Mountain Park project has reached 25 percent, and its cost exceeds OMR1.1 million. The project aims to provide a modern recreational outlet for the visitors to the wilayat, with integrated facilities that keep pace with the aspirations of tourism development. He pointed out that the governorate pays great attention to enhancing the tourism sector, as the project to design and implement internal roads in Jabal Al Akhdar has been completed at a cost of OMR1.37 million to facilitate traffic movement within the wilayat. Work is also underway to implement internal roads at a cost of OMR1.4 million, with the completion rate exceeding 10 percent. He explained that improving the road network contributes to strengthening connectivity between different regions, facilitating the movement of residents and visitors, and supporting tourism and economic activities. He said that the dual carriageway project at the entrance to Jabal Al Akhdar State, which is nearing completion of the consultancy phase, includes the rehabilitation and development of the main entrance and updating engineering design standards to meet the needs of population growth and urban expansion. For his part, Sheikh Sultan bin Mansour Al Ghafili, Wali of Jabal Al Akhdar, said that the ambitious development projects currently being implemented in the Wilayat reflect the government's commitment to developing infrastructure and enhancing public services. These projects include improving the road network and establishing integrated recreational facilities, including the Wilayat Public Park project, which aims to provide a modern and enjoyable recreational space for all, raising the quality of life for citizens and enhancing the tourism experience. He added that the collaboration with the Governor's Office has significantly contributed to accelerating the implementation of these projects and providing them with the necessary support. He emphasised that these joint efforts will contribute to the development of the wilayat, ensuring sustainable development and the well-being of its residents. He explained to the Oman News Agency that there is a clear trend towards developing the infrastructure and stimulating investment in tourism facilities, in addition to organising cultural and heritage festivals that highlight the identity of the Green Mountain. He said that work is currently underway to establish the Green Mountain Park and implement the Celebrations and Festivals Square project, which is an integrated project that aims to provide an organised environment for entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises, as it includes all the necessary services to support commercial and tourism activities in the wilayat. Bahla Equestrian Festival brings together riders from different governorates of Oman
Bahla: The 4th edition of Bahla Equestrian Festival was held in the city of Bahla today. Organized by Bahla Equestrian Society in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of A'Dakhiliyah, the event saw a large turnout of riders from different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman . Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of A'Dakhiliyah, said that Bahla Equestrian Festival contributes to reviving Omani heritage and highlighting the role of equestrian events in consolidating the country's cultural identity. The festival features traditional horse shows, including Al Ardha (a traditional form of horsemanship) and children's competitions aimed to spread the culture of horsemanship among young generations. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Eng. Hamad Ali Al Nazwani, Undersecretary for Housing at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.

Oman seeks bids for Jabal Shams Grand Canyon project
Omani authorities have invited bids for the first phase of Jabal Shams Grand Canyon, a major tourism project that boasts key attractions including a recreational area, a glass walkway, a tourist resort, a zip line and a hiking trail. The bids were floated by Governorate of Dakhliyah for the ambitious RO11 million ($28.5 million) tourism development to be set up in the Wilayat of Al Hamrat. Once completed, it will be instrumental in boosting the national economy and generating jobs for Omani youth, reported Oman News Agency. Situated at an altitude of 3,000m and covering an area of 145,000 sqm, the key development aims to attract adventure seekers and families. Geological exhibitions, a rock garden, and an adventure centre are also part of the development. Launching the bid, Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of A'Dakhiliyah, said: "The first phase includes site levelling, land preparation, road planning, and the development of service networks. It will also involve the construction of reception and administration buildings, basic facilities, and public amenities." "The project aims to support domestic tourism, create job opportunities for jobseekers, and contribute to national income," he stated. Situated at an altitude of 3,000m and covering an area of 145,000 sqm, the key development aims to attract adventure seekers and families. In October last year, the Dakhliyah Governor's Office signed an agreement with Nas Engineering Consultancy to design and oversee the first phase, reported Muscat Daily. The project design was selected as the winner of the 2024 Governorate's Competition and aligns with the Royal Directives for local development and 'Oman Vision 2040,' it stated. Designed with sustainability in mind, the project aims to integrate with the natural landscape while enhancing visitors' connection with the environment. Additional features include a coffee farm, fruit orchards, a summer camp, and a seasonal activities garden. A 500-seat theatre, kiosks selling seasonal produce, and an information centre will provide cultural experiences for visitors. The second phase of the project will be tendered later this year, said Al Hajri.

Oman: Jabal Shams front to provide 32 investment opportunities
Nizwa: The Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah has announced tender for implementing the first phase of the Jabal Shams front 'Grand Canyon' project in the Wilayat of Al Hamra. The first phase includes infrastructure works. The tender for second phase of the project will be awarded this year. Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, said that the project, which has an investment cost of OMR11 million, will cover an area of 145,000 square metres. He emphasised that the project provides 32 investment opportunities for entrepreneurs, in addition to strengthening the cultural and social identity of the local community, improving the quality of life, and enhancing social interaction among the region's residents. He added that the project is envisaged to generate annual investment returns of more than OMR1.26 million. He explained that the first phase of the project includes site levelling and preparing the land for construction work, implementing road plans and service networks such as electricity, water, sewage, and communications, in addition to construction of reception and administration buildings, basic and public facilities, parking lots, and green spaces. He added that the second phase of the project includes the implementation of components such as a public square, an open theatre, an illuminated cultural park, a recreational area containing various children's play areas, a glass walkway, and a summer camp. In addition, a 200-metre zip line will provide a unique experience for tourists, a 250-metre long slide track, a health walkway, and a geological exhibition highlighting the geological diversity of the Omani environment. The project will also include public facilities and recreational services, remote work offices, an information centre, reception and administration offices, an adventure centre, and kiosks selling seasonal products. He explained that, in conjunction with the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate's progress in implementing infrastructure, investment opportunities will be offered to the private sector after mid-April. These include the construction of a luxury resort overlooking Wadi Al Nakhr, a coffee and fruit farm, an adventure activities centre, and a suspended glass bridge. The Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, pointed out that the project won first place in the Best Development Project Proposal competition within the governorates' competition for 2024, in implementation of the royal directives aimed at developing the governorates and aligning their programs with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. He affirmed that the project is a pioneering initiative that promotes local content, and will contribute throughout its phases, from construction to actual operation, in strengthening the national economy. During the construction period, local materials will be heavily relied upon, and the project is expected to provide approximately 309 new jobs in fields such as management, construction, tourism, and services.
