St George's Day parade in Hinckley called off
A weekend parade that formed part of a town's St George's Day celebrations has been had been due to follow a route through Hinckley town centre on Saturday afternoon but leaders said "with regret" they had been forced to borough council said other planned activities including morris dancers, a dragon display, craft sessions and a knights and princess trail would still go by Tom the Tale Teller and a new play called Two Women Meet in Heaven also form part of the programme.
Scout leader Phil Woolaston said: "It is with regret that Hinckley District Scouts have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's St George's Day parade and service. "We understand that this event holds a great significance for our community, and we share in the disappointment this may cause."However, this decision has been made with careful consideration, prioritising the best interests of all involved."We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support, and we look forward to celebrating St George's Day together in 2026."
