U.P. CM, A.P. Deputy CM likely to attend Lord Murugan conference in Madurai
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan are likely to attend the Muruga Bakthargalin Aanmeega Maanadu to be organised by Hindu Munnani in Madurai on June 22. Talking to reporters here, Hindu Munnani State president Kadeswara Subramanian said invitation had been given to leaders of all political parties and MLAs. 'We have sought an appointment with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to extend him the invitation,' he added. The conference was aimed at uniting Hindus. 'Since, this is a secular country, we want to tell all political parties to treat all religions equally,' he said, adding that some leaders had made derogatory remarks against Hindus and their practices, which had not evoked strong criticism among Hindus. The conference was being held in the backdrop of people belonging to other religions trying to own certain hillocks where Hindu temples were located. An exhibition of replicas of Lord Murugan from 'Aarupadai Veedu' would be opened by Pudhucherry Home Minister A. Namassivayam on Monday, he said.
