Evansville couple facing drug dealing charges
HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – An Evansville couple is facing drug dealing charges.
Montonez Williams, 43, and Meredith Hodges-Scarbrough, 26, were booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail Monday afternoon.
According to an affidavit, detectives with the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force received information in January that Willaims was selling meth and other controlled substances from the 1400 block of Cumberland Avenue.
Officials state while conducting surveillance, both got into an SUV after leaving through the main door.
Following this, authorities set up two controlled purchases, starting on April 3, and officials say the buys led to suspected meth and cocaine.

Officials state on Monday, surveillance was being conducted to affect the arrest of Williams, and detectives saw Hodges-Scarbrough and Williams getting into the same SUV. A felony traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of St. Joseph Avenue and the Lloyd Expressway.
Officials also state both people refused to get out and were making multiple furtive movements.
Both were taken into custody following multiple commands.
Officials say a torn plastic bag with a white powder was seen on the passenger floorboard where Williams was. It was alleged Williams was trying to destroy evidence. The following items were found in the vehicle:
Multiple cell phones
Black Vortex
Green leafy substance in mesh bag (tested positive for THC)
Pink zipper pouch
Two green plastic containers with cutting agent
Baggies with residue
Foil containing off white powdery substance (tested positive for fentanyl)
Glass pipe with burnt residue
Red straw and baggie with residue
Two digital scales with residue (tested positive for fentanyl)
Plastic container with residue (tested positive for fentanyl)
A judicially signed search warrant was reportedly granted for the residence on Cumberland Avenue. EPD says the following items were found:
Black digital scale with residue (tested positive for fentanyl)
Clear plastic bags
Clear plastic bag with green leafy substance (tested positive for synthetic cannabinoids)
Box of 9mm ammo
Blue/gray jar with white unknown powder
Black and silver handgun with green laser sight
16 rounds of 9mm ammo
The affidavit also states while Hodges-Scarbrough was being booked, she admitted to jail staff she was three months pregnant.
