Egypt a top choice for German tourists seeking affordable holidays

Balancing budget and wanderlust, Germans plan careful 2025 summer trips amid economic headwinds, the German newspaper reveals. According to the current travel report from HolidayCheck, bookings are currently cautious, but demand will increase in the first half of the year, says Christian Kaschner, Vice President of Tourism at HolidayCheck, after many organizers responded and extended early booking discounts. The report outlines that Egypt, the Turkish Riviera, Mallorca, and Crete are the favorite destinations for German tourists for all-inclusive holidays in the summer of 2025. Egypt, in particular, with places like Hurghada and Marsa Alam, attracts many travelers. Kaschner said that the country is currently one of the winners in the affordable and high-quality holiday sector, but its success will largely depend on future political developments in the Middle East. However, according to the industry portal FVV, the conflict in the Middle East has not had a lasting impact on demand. Egypt is currently trying to boost the summer season for archaeological sites near Luxor and Aswan by offering free entry visas, as there are fewer tourists here between May and October due to the heat. According to the HolidayCheck platform, Egypt and Tunisia are particularly inexpensive for families in the summer, with a family of four paying an average of 3,300 euros for a week-long package tour to Hurghada or Marsa Alam, with at least one meal a day, including transportation. Among other inexpensive tourist destinations are the greater Monastir region (3,500 euros) and Djerba (3,600 euros) in Tunisia. However, families can also save up to 30 percent by making smart choices about food and accommodation, as HolidayCheck found – even in the most popular tourist destinations, half-board or self-catering accommodation is often cheaper than all-inclusive offers.
