Homeschool Days will return to Hattiesburg Zoo in 2025

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – Homeschool Days at the Hattiesburg Zoo have been set for March 4, April 1 and May 6. Homeschool Days run from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (gates open at 8:30 a.m.), which will allow these students early access to the zoo an hour prior to the public opening, which gives the education team more time work with the participants on their assigned activities. Hattiesburg Zoo will become cashless venue, increase admission prices Programming for these three months will focus on Hoofstock. From 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., there will be four activity stations located throughout the zoo, which will each have a unique task for students to work through at their own pace. At 10:00 a.m. students, parents and teachers will enjoy an animal encounter at the Giraffe Pavilion. From 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., a Nature Swap will be held where students can share their unique nature-based finds and swap their treasures with other participant and with the zoo staff members. Participation in Hattiesburg Zoo's Homeschool Days requires advanced reservations, which can be made online at a cost of $15 per student ($10 for a student with an annual zoo pass) and $8 for parents (free for a parent with an annual zoo pass).
