Minissha Lamba: The break from films wasn't intentional

Minissha Lamba , who made her theatre debut with Mirror Mirror in 2018, recently resumed staging the play. The actress, who began her showbiz journey with the film Yahaan (2005), says, 'I never thought I'd do theatre. When I first read the script of Ashvin Gidwani's 'Mirror Mirror', I was stunned to see that it was a 75-page script with one actor playing multiple characters. I was worried about working in theatre for the first time, that too, so late in my career. It took me some time to say yes, as it was overwhelming to take on a live solo performance.' 'Theatre is a completely different form of expression' The actress, who has also been a part of films like 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' and 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd', says that the transition from cinema to theatre was challenging. 'Your experience in films doesn't help when it comes to theatre. It's a completely different form of expression.' Minissha's last Bollywood film was 'Bhoomi', which was released in 2017. Ask her about her break from films, and she replies, 'The break from films wasn't intentional. The projects coming my way weren't ones I wanted to do. Meanwhile, this play came along, and I dived into it.' But films are still on her mind. 'There have been offers, and I'm waiting for that one project, a real comeback vehicle, that will be the talk of the town,' she shares. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo 'Social media affects everyone, not just actors' The actress was recently in the news for her body-positive post, which featured her in a black lace bikini. 'I've realised that when you feel good about yourself, you are happy, no matter how you look,' she says, acknowledging the pressure of social media. She adds, 'It's the biggest challenge - not just in the entertainment industry, but everywhere. Social media is flooded with perfect images of women and seemingly ideal lives. It affects everyone, not just actors. People use filters for selfies… people don't want unfiltered faces anymore.'
