Kuwait Cricket goes global – invited to the prestigious Hong Kong Sixes 2025

KUWAIT CITY, June 12: The Kuwait Cricket Board is proud to announce that the Kuwait National Men's Cricket Team has been officially invited to participate in the world-renowned Hong Kong Sixes 2025 — also known globally as the Hong Kong Super Sixes. This thrilling and fast-paced international tournament will take place from 31st October to 2nd November 2025 in Hong Kong. With Kuwait currently ranked 23rd in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings, this invitation is a huge endorsement of the nation's rapid rise and performance on the international cricketing stage. The Hong Kong Sixes — which made a spectacular return in 2024 — is one of the most entertaining formats in cricket, featuring a six-a-side structure that was a forerunner to modern T20 and T10 cricket. Known for its high-octane action, global appeal, and elite competition, the 2025 edition will feature full-member nations alongside top-performing associate countries, and Kuwait is proudly among them. This invitation comes on the back of Kuwait's stellar performances in recent years: Qualified for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers – a key step toward the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India & Sri Lanka. Runners-up in the ILT20 Gulf Cup 2024, after a thrilling final vs UAE. T20I Champions of the Hong Kong Men's Series, defeating Nepal in a statement victory. KCC President Mr. Haider Farman thanked the Hong Kong Cricket Board for recognizing Kuwait's consistent progress and providing a platform alongside full-member teams, stating, 'Being part of an iconic global tournament like the Hong Kong Sixes puts Kuwait on the world map. It's a proud moment for our country and a powerful validation of Kuwait Cricket's development journey.'He also commended Hong Kong Cricket for reviving this legendary format and honoring emerging nations like Kuwait with such a prestigious invite. KCC Director General Mr. Sajid Ashraf added, 'The Hong Kong Sixes was a childhood favorite for many of us. To see Kuwait participating is a dream realized. The journey has been long, but the players' sacrifices and relentless efforts are finally paying off. Competing alongside cricketing giants like India, England, Australia, and Pakistan is a major milestone.' He credited this achievement to the efforts and hard work of KCC's High Performance Committee, Head Coach Qasim Ali, and long-standing captain Mohammad Aslam. 'Coach Qasim Ali has instilled a professional mindset and winning culture over the past two years. Mohammad Aslam, leading for six years, has guided this team through its most successful era yet. Their combined leadership has brought consistency, growth, and many proud moments for Kuwait Cricket.' This prestigious participation marks another historic milestone for Kuwait Cricket. With a strong foundation built over the past 5 years — from grassroots development to elite player performance — Kuwait is now ready to showcase its flair, skill, and fighting spirit on one of the most entertaining and globally celebrated stages in cricket.
