Chinese tourist's daughter cuts toe while playing at beach club during holiday

A Chinese netizen expressed displeasure with a beach club in Sentosa after her daughter cut her toe while playing in the pool. According to a Xiaohongshu user, Mrs Hong Yu, from Shanghai, China, she brought her family to Singapore during the five-day-long May Day holiday in China. She visited Sentosa on May 4 and patronised Ola Beach Club. While playing in the pool at the beach club, her daughter suddenly told her that her foot was hurting. Upon closer inspection, she realised that there was a cut on her toe and she was bleeding. She shared that a waiter and chef assisted her in stopping the bleeding, but claimed that, to her displeasure, the manager did not provide help. The beach club then arranged for medical personnel to help bandage the wound. Mrs Hong Yu was later informed that the wound was deep and that they should seek medical attention as soon as possible. She then looked for the manager to demand that the beach club bear full responsibility and compensation for medical fees. However, the manager said that there was no guarantee and would inform the management about the incident. She was handed a business card with his email. After changing her daughter's clothes, Mrs Hong Yu took her daughter to Mount Elizabeth Hospital, where she got stitches. She shared a picture showing the medical bill amounting to $1,252 and an email from the staff confirming that they will follow up with her on the incident. A spokesperson for Ola Beach Club confirmed the incident with Shin Min Daily News and said that staff members immediately assisted the customer when the incident occurred, and kept in touch with the customer through email afterwards. The spokesperson added that the team has satisfied the customer's claims. "The safety and well-being of our customers is of paramount importance to us."
