MPD releases more details on how manhunt for fugitive ended

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Madisonville Police are sharing more details to the capture of a wanted fugitive from Hopkins County. As previously reported, Jonathan Ruby was wanted by the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police. According to police records, he was taken into custody at 6:25 p.m. on Monday. MPD says officers responded to the 800 block of South Main Street for a white Nissan Rouge believed to be transporting Ruby. Upon arrival, MPD says after having a male and female step out, another male was in the rear passenger seat. The male reportedly began asking why and providing a social security number. The male claimed he was Stephen Ruby and was detained. However, authorities found out his real name was Jonathan Ruby. He was subsequently searched and was found to have one large bag of marijuana, one baggie of suspected meth, one baggie of synthetic marijuana, multiple clear empty baggies and currency.
