UAE to participate in International Convention against Doping in Sport in Paris
23 Apr 2025 14:16 ABU DHABI (WAM)The United Arab Emirates will take part in the 10th session of the Conference of Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport, scheduled to be held in Paris from October 20 to UAE will be represented by Dr. Reema Al Hosani, consultant sports medicine and international coordinator of the global research team studying the impact of herbal substances on Hosani leads an international team of around 40 experts from various countries under an initiative supported by UNESCO's Fund for the Elimination of Doping in initiative aims to explore how traditional herbs affect integrity and values in sports in relation to doping, as part of a plan running from June 2024 to May Hosani said the initiative was launched in response to a growing trend of athletes turning to traditional medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic. She noted that the Executive Committee of the Conference of Parties adopted the proposal, with the Arab group under her leadership selected to head the global team.

Dubai to host third edition of UAE National MMA Championship
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation has announced that the third edition of the UAE National MMA Championship will take place on April 12 and 13, 2025, at Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai. The championship is part of the federation's continuous efforts to promote mixed martial arts nationwide and provide a competitive platform for identifying and developing emerging talent. The third edition is expected to draw wide participation from male and female athletes representing clubs and academies across the UAE, reflecting the championship's growing significance in the national sports calendar. The competition will feature several age divisions, starting with Youth D (ages 10–11), followed by Youth C (ages 12–13), Youth B (ages 14–15), Youth A (ages 16–17), and the Adults category (ages 18 and above). The federation confirmed that the weight divisions for each age group have been approved in line with international standards, ensuring fair competition among athletes within the same category. The approved competition format is also designed to raise the overall level of performance by motivating athletes to perform at their peak. At the end of the championship, the top athletes in each age and weight category will be crowned. Mohammed Jassim Al Hosani, a member of the federation's Mixed Martial Arts Committee, said: 'The UAE National MMA Championship is an important part of the Federation's championship calendar, as it helps us achieve both technical and strategic goals. It gives athletes the chance to test their skills in a competitive setting that meets international standards, and it helps us discover and support new talent through well-structured development programmes.' Hosani added that the strong participation in the past two editions of the championship shows the Federation's success in building a strong group of athletes and boosting the UAE's reputation as a leader in mixed martial arts regionally and globally.

Department of Community Development launches Volunteer in 60 Seconds initiative

This initiative is designed to enhance the efficiency of the volunteer journey in Abu Dhabi, encourage individuals to engage in volunteer work, and foster a culture of initiative significantly reduces the time required for an individual to register on from 8 minutes to only 60 seconds. This enhancement aligns with the joint commitment of DCD and to enrich the volunteer experience in accordance with the Abu Dhabi Government's Effortless Customer Experience programme. Additionally, it promotes community contribution as a meaningful way to give back to society and the Al Hosani, Licensing Acting Division Manager and Licensing of Third Sector and Place of Worship Section Head for the Department of Community Development, said: "The Volunteer in 60 Seconds initiative reflects our commitment to providing a seamless and user-friendly experience for volunteers while encouraging more individuals to participate in volunteer activities. Emirates Red Crescent distributing Ramadan food aid in UAE-Jordanian Camp
7 Mar 2025 00:43 MRAJEEB AL FHOOD (WAM) As part of the UAE's ongoing humanitarian approach to supporting Syrian refugees, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the UAE's humanitarian arm, has launched its annual Ramadan initiative by distributing Ramadan food aid (Meer Ramadan) to Syrian refugees in the UAE-Jordanian camp in Mrajeeb Al the ERC has provided food aid to several charity organisations accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development to benefit registered underprivileged relief team also delivered Ramadan food packages to needy families living in informal tents near the distribution was overseen by the Deputy Director of the UAE Relief Team, Abdulmohsen Abdurrahim Al Hosani, along with other team Hosani said that the UAE Relief Team remains committed to its mission of providing humanitarian and relief support to Syrian refugees in the camp and to underprivileged families in Jordan through local charity organisations. He noted that around 1,200 families residing in the camp received Ramadan food packages, with the aid adjusted based on each family's size. The camp administration ensures that the food aid packages contain essential food supplies to meet the daily needs of the beneficiaries throughout the holy month.
