Doja Cat Speaks Up After Fan 'Manhandled' Her: 'Don't Touch Me'

Fans are itching for more Doja Cat as she gears up to release new music, but that doesn't mean they should touch her without consent. The Grammy winner is facing backlash after she reportedly defended herself in a series of social media posts in the aftermath of a fan interaction on Friday, June 6. A clip of the encounter, posted by TikToker Pablo Tamayo, shows Doja laughing and smiling as he takes the shirt off his back as a gift to her. 'I'm about to give my shirt to Doja Cat because she's the iconic girl," he said as he passed the tank, which read 'Hot Boys Kiss Boys,' to the rapper before grabbing her arms and pulling her in for hugs and kisses. He then asked if Doja was her real name, and she introduced herself as 'Amie,' a nickname for her real name, Amala. 'Nice to meet you my love,' she said, to which he responded, 'I hope you have the best night.' According to Entertainment Weekly, the 'Agora Hills' artist shared a series of since-deleted posts nearly a week after her interaction with Pablo. At the time, she allegedly wrote, 'Bottom line is I'll smile at you but it doesn't mean I fuck w you and don't touch me and man handle me when you don't even fuckin know me. Iykyk.' Per screenshots captured by @NATERERUN on X (formerly known as Twitter), she added, 'I honestly think I need to stand up for myself in the moment sometimes. And he didn't even know my fuckin name to be touching me and kissing me on my face like that is crazy.' In a separate post, she allegedly wrote, 'I threw that musty ass shirt away btw.' Fans flooded the comments section with mixed reactions to Pablo's clip with Doja. One fan wrote, 'It looks like she's meeting you 😭,' while another added, 'lol she didn't seem like she hated this interaction at all??💀.' After her since-deleted posts surfaced, Pablo took to TikTok to say his piece. 'I just want to clear this up, because it hurts. I saw her at Coachella, and I never claimed to be the biggest fan,' he said, explaining that she first approached him to compliment his shirt, which is part of a Pride merch collection he created. Content creators like Harry Jowsey and Carter Gregory have donned the product, as shown in clips from Pablo's TikTok profile. Pablo told the rapper that he would have loved to gift her a shirt from the collection, to which she said, 'I want one right now.' Then, the interaction captured in his original clip started. He added, 'I understand, guys, if I was being too nice. I'll take full accountability. I'm gay! I don't want her to feel uncomfortable. She's so iconic.' As for her posts, he said, 'I don't know what's going on. I don't know if this is for publicity or for whatever, guys, but I would've never wanted to make her uncomfortable.' Doja has yet to respond to his videos, if at all.
