Housefull 3 vs Housefull 5 Day Wise Box Office Comparison: How is Akshay Kumar's new comedy performing compared to its 2016 counterpart?
Housefull is among the most successful comedy franchises of India. For the first four films, the franchise has held a 100 percent hit track record. The 5th installment of the franchise has been doing well for itself so far and all eyes are now on how well it holds ahead. Going by the hold of Housefull 5 of 'Discount Tuesday' where tickets in primary chains are priced between Rs 149 and Rs 199, the movie is projected to add Rs 8.75 crore net, taking its 5 day total to Rs 99 crore net. Housefull 5 shall cross the Rs 100 crore India net mark tomorrow, that is on its first Wednesday (day 6), making it the 2nd quickest film of the franchise to hit the mark, only behind Housefull 4 which managed to enter the Rs 100 crore club, late on day 5. There is a stark difference in the weekday trend of Housefull 4 and Housefull 5 because Housefull 4 had Diwali holidays while Housefull 5 doesn't have any. Housefull 4 held better after having almost similar first 5 day collections and that rules out the possibility of Housefull 5 to cross Housefull 4. The comparison of Housefull 3 and Housefull 5 is an ideal one because of the similar release period. Have a look at the day wise collections of Housefull 3 and Housefull 5. The Day Wise Net Box Office Collections Of Housefull 3 (2016) And Housefull 5 (2025) Are As Under Particulars Housefull 3 Housefull 5 Friday Rs 15.20 crore Rs 22 crore Saturday Rs 16.30 crore Rs 28.25 crore Sunday Rs 21.80 crore Rs 29 crore Monday Rs 8.25 crore Rs 11 crore Tuesday Rs 7.10 crore Rs 8.75 crore (exp) Total Rs 68.65 crore Rs 99 crore Going by the above table, Housefull 5 is obviously leading Housefull 3, much thanks to the average ticket prices which have easily doubled in 9 odd years. However, the hold of Housefull 3 in terms of percentage is better, suggesting better word of mouth. Housefull 3 went on to net Rs 50 crore more after its 5th day and if we assume Housefull 5 to optimistically have a similar percentage of hold from here, it should be adding around Rs 75-80 crore net more, in order to end its run in the vicinity of Rs 175-180 crore net. There is an outside chance for Housefull 5 to hit Rs 200 crore but it is not going to be easy since the holds are not as strong as its predicessors. All eyes are on the hold of Housefull 5 in the days to come. Regardless, the opening of the movie atleast clears one thing and that is - branded content is being preferred and more producers should be working towards creating branded content with the right packaging for good initials. Word of mouth will look after the rest. You can watch Housefull 5 in theatres now.

‘Housefull 5' review: A star-studded shipwreck
Fifteen years after the first Housefull movie hit screens in 2010, Housefull 5 arrives with the usual bluster and baloney—big stars, bigger sets, and a plot that makes no sense. In an unusual twist, the climax and the revelation of the killer aboard a luxury cruise liner differ depending on which version of director Tarun Mansukhani's slapstick comedy you're watching. But no matter which route you take, the destination remains the same: this film is a colossal waste of time and resources. This fifth instalment of the famously chaotic comedy franchise is louder, glossier, and stacked with an even larger ensemble. You might struggle to name or remember the female characters, but the men are hard to miss. Franchise regulars like Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Chunky Panday (as Aakhri Pasta), Johnny Lever (Batuk Patel), and Ranjeet return, joined by new entrants Fardeen Khan, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Abhishek Bachchan (previously in Housefull 3), and Sanjay Dutt. Taking the reins—or rather, the rudder—Mansukhani steers the film (based on a story by producer Sajid Nadiadwala and co-written by Farhad Samji) into even wilder territory. What we mostly get is confusion, a scattershot script, and cheap thrills at the expense of scantily clad female characters. The film juggles a cluttered mix of mistaken identities and a murder mystery set on a cruise ship where millionaire Ranjeet Dobriyal (Ranjeet) is celebrating his birthday. But when Ranjeet suddenly passes away, his will declares Jolly, his son from his first wife, as his heir. His board of directors and Dev, Ranjeet's son from his second wife, are left stunned and await the arrival of the unknown Jolly. Three men appear on the ship claiming to be Jolly. This sets off a spiral of insecurities, especially for Dev (Fardeen Khan). Suspicion mounts as the board members—played by Chitrangada Singh, Shreyas Talpade, and Dino Morea—also start behaving oddly. Into this chaos is a clumsy lawyer (Soundarya Sharma) dressed more for a beach party than a courtroom, the ship's supersized captain (Nikitin Dheer), and three Jollys, each with their own foreign wife: Jalabuddin (Deshmukh) with Zara (Sonam Bajwa), Jalbhushan (Bachchan) with Sasikala (Jacqueline Fernandez), and Julius (Kumar) with Kaanchi (Nargis Fakhri). As more mysterious murders occur, bumbling cops Baba (Jackie Shroff) and Bhidu (Sanjay Dutt) show up, followed by Nana Patekar as a dhoti-wearing super-cop in sneakers. The action pauses for large, colourful song-and-dance numbers that try to distract from the nonsensical plot. A few tracks—especially 'Laal Pari' and Patekar's 'The Phoogdi Dance' Marathi house music remix with Kratex—bring brief energy, but it's not enough. The cast is indeed a full house. Akshay Kumar tries to inject his usual comic charm, and Riteish Deshmukh does his reliable best with reheated material. But the newer additions barely make a dent, and with such a bloated cast, no one really gets the spotlight—especially the women, who are largely ornamental. The glaring lack of chemistry among the actors only adds to the film's hollowness. Housefull 5 is louder, longer, and completely lost at sea.

Housefull 5 Box Office Collections: Akshay Kumar starrer takes career best opening overseas
Housefull 5 opened well at the overseas box office, grossing USD 1.25 million (Rs. 10.50 crore) approx on its Friday opening day. Combined with its Rs. 26.50 crore opening day collection in India, the film recorded a worldwide gross of Rs. 37 crore on Day 1. The overseas opening day numbers are the highest ever for an Akshay Kumar film, tying with Housefull 3, which grossed USD 1.25 million (USD 1.60 million including previews) in 2016. However, Housefull 3 had a release in Pakistan, which is a no-go for Indian films now. In a like-for-like comparison, excluding Pakistan, Housefull 5 sets a new record for Kumar, surpassing the previous best held by Good Newwz. From here, the film will aim for a weekend of USD 4 million plus, which will also be a record for Akshay, and that will be even without needing to exclude Pakistan. The best performing markets for the film were the Middle East and New Zealand, with good support from Australia and the United Kingdom. The US and Canada could have done better, as they are significantly lower than Diwali releases Singham 3 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, while in other markets, it was either ahead or on par. In the Middle East, the film benefited from Eid holidays, with an estimated USD 500K approx first day. These numbers can go a bit higher once the actuals come, which are delayed due to the holiday period. In New Zealand, particularly in the Fiji Islands, comedies generally overperform, and the Housefull franchise has a stellar record, with the second & fourth films becoming the highest-grossing grossers ever at the time of their release. The film grossed NZD 80K on its first day, which is the seventh highest ever for a Hindi film in the market, on par with Jawan and ahead of films like Tiger 3 and Dunki. The First Day Overseas Box Office Collections of Housefull 5 are as follows:

Shreyas Talpade calls Akshay Kumar his 'elder brother' and fitness guide; praises Nana Patekar's Marathi flair in ‘Housefull 5': ‘It's going to be a treat'
Brace yourselves for a full-blown comedy hurricane, because the 'Housefull' gang is back and this time, they're bringing in even more madness, mayhem, and laughter! With 15 years of non-stop chaos behind it, the iconic franchise is now heading for its fifth instalment – 'Housefull 5', releasing on 6 June, and promises to be the biggest, craziest one yet. In an exclusive chat with Etimes, Shreyas Talpade spilled the tea on everything from surviving rough seas during the shoot to being pampered by 'Akki bhai' ( Akshay Kumar ), and of course, what it's like to be back with the maddest bunch in Bollywood. From double endings to slapstick drama, Talpade gives insight into why this cruise comedy is ready to dock straight into box office gold. Back in the 'House': Shreyas on returning to the comedy carnival It's been over a decade since Shreyas last brought the laughs in 'Housefull 2', and now, he's stepping back into the loony universe of 'Housefull 5'. Talking about how it feels to be back in the madhouse? He replies, ''Housefull' feels like a family and I'm extremely happy to be a part of this complete mad universe. Getting back with all of them was great and extremely crazy at the same time.' Talking about not being a part of 'Housefull 3' and '4'he simply said, 'I'm sure there was nothing much to offer to me. But this time, the whole concept was completely different. The climax, as everybody knows, is completely different. There are 19-20 actors coming together to create a world which I'm sure people will enjoy watching.' Sajid Khan vs Tarun Mansukhani: Directors with distinct flavours of comedy Comparing the styles of the two directors who have helmed 'Housefull' films, Shreyas notes a fascinating contrast. Talpade explains, 'Sajid's school of filmmaking, what I've experienced, is completely over the top. He'll also make you ham at certain places, but he does it with so much conviction that you believe what he's saying. While Tarun is a little calmer than Sajid is but he gets into the slapstick zone with utmost conviction. ' Shreyas added that working with such varied directors pushes him as an actor. 'Their thoughts are different, their ideas are different, their conviction is different. As an actor, it challenges you to give it your best as per their school of filmmaking. The way the whole franchise has embraced these different styles is awesome.' 'Kapkapiii' to 'Housefull 5': Why back-to-back comedies? After delivering a punchy performance in the horror-comedy 'Kapkapiii' along with Tusshar Kapoor , Shreyas now again jumps straight into the madness of 'Housefull 5'. He says, 'As actors, we live for these challenges, one is a mystery comedy, and one is a horror comedy. Both have an element of slapstick in them. But I think that's what makes it interesting.' He credits the directors and writers for crafting unique characters that allow him to explore different comedic styles. Despite 'Kapkapiii' being delayed due to the passing of director Sangeeth Sivan. 'I'm grateful that I've had back-to-back releases. 'Kapkapiii' was really well received, and now I'm looking forward to 'Housefull 5', which is a whole new experience. As an actor, I feel truly lucky to get the chance to play such varied and interesting characters in every film. ' Shreyas recalls a storm while shooting on the cruise The cast of 'Housefull 5' reads like a who's who of Bollywood, featuring Abhishek Bachchan , Sanjay Dutt , Jacqueline Fernandez , Sonam Bajwa , and many more. The shoot took place on a cruise for 40 days, turning work into a non-stop party. But it wasn't all smooth sailing. Shreyas recalls a terrifying moment when the ship was caught in a storm, 'One of the most unforgettable incidents happened on the cruise itself. We were caught in the middle of a storm and the entire cruise ship kept moving up and down, sideways. All of us kept smiling and laughing, but inside we were really, really scared.' He said they were reminded of the safety drills from day one. 'It was one experience in life which ideally no one should really have… but now that we've gone through it, we know what happens in the middle of the ocean.' Still, he hopes that kind of storm hits the box office too – 'where people go crazy about the film and book as many tickets as many times as possible!' 'Akki bhai was the elder brother who took great care of me' Fans will be thrilled to see Shreyas reunited with Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh. The trio's chemistry is as solid as ever. Talpade shares, 'Working with both of them is not only fun, but they just keep you on your toes all the while – either with some pranks or some games. With Akki bhai, you can expect a lot of fun. Akki bhai was the elder brother who took great, great care of me. He was the one who assured my wife that, 'Don't worry, Shreyas is going to be fine on the cruise. ' He set a workout pattern for me. He set a diet regime. When he's around, you know you're going to be looked after – and I really want to thank him for everything he's done.' From 'Housefull' to 'Jungle': Double dose of comedy franchises Next up, Shreyas will be seen in 'Welcome to the Jungle', reuniting with Akshay once again. It's the third film in the hit 'Welcome' series and the actor is thrilled to be on board. 'That cast again is pretty huge, with so many actors and so many of them with great comic timing. So the kind of fun that we're having on the sets of 'Welcome to the Jungle' is pretty much equal to what we had on 'Housefull'. I feel blessed to be part of these popular franchises and to play an important part in all of them.' More Marathi masala with Nana Patekar's show-stealing acting If there's one thing fans are buzzing about, it's Nana Patekar's hilariously high-energy performance, especially his viral 'Phoogdi dance'. 'Yes, people have given us immense love. Especially when we get the Marathi angle in Hindi films, they love it even more,' said Shreyas. 'But this time, more than me and Riteish, it is Nana sir who's stealing the show… not only with his Fugdi dance, but his complete character.' Patekar plays a character called Dagdu Sir, complete with dhoti , kurta, and fierce energy. 'It is going to be a treat and a delight for all fans of Marathi cinema.' Talking about the dual ending murder mystery A murder mystery in a slapstick comedy? That's the twist 'Housefull 5' is promising – and even the cast was kept in the dark! 'The mystery was there while we were shooting! I think that was the best part – how we went about shooting this,' Shreyas said. 'When actors don't know who the killer is, their performance definitely changes.' Adding to the fun is a dual-ending twist, brainchild of Sajid Nadiadwala himself. 'When I heard it for the first time, I was quite blown away! And I'm sure people are looking forward to that.' Shreyas concluded with a heartfelt hope, 'I just hope people go out there in theatres in big numbers. The advance booking is looking great. So we really want to thank them for that. And I just hope they enjoy the film to the fullest. That is the only thing that will make us happy.'
